Customized Eyeliner in Limitless Shades

I recently received a great beauty tip from fellow makeup moxie, Rachel K., a reader from Miami Florida. Rachel explained how you can use an extremely common bathroom cabinet staple to make any eyeshadow into a long-wearing mascara. Please be sure to check it out in our tips and tricks section!

I just wish I could have passed that tip on to a customer I had noticed during one of my recent beauty shopping trips.

While nosing through a display of new spring eyeshadows, I couldn’t help but notice a woman who was sending a number of dutiful employees into a minor frenzy looking for her “perfect shade of turquoise eyeliner.” She had no idea what brand she was looking for nor did she bring in any sort of color sample for the sales people to work with.

The salespeople brought her eyeliner after eyeliner only to be met with curt replies of “too blue,” “too green,” “too bright”, “too dark”…and on and on they went. Hoping to be helpful, I suggested she try out Too Faced Liquif-Eye, a colorless liquid liner that can be used to transform any eyeshadow into a water resistant eyeliner ($17.50 alone or $32.50 with 12-shade, highly-pigmented shadow collection from Beauty.com).

The most recent employee to come over with yet another turquoise liner (a particular pretty one, in my humble opinion) shot me a grateful smile before departing yet again for the Liquif-Eye. When he returned, he also had with him a small bottle of Bare Minerals Weather Everything Liner Sealer ($18, Ulta) and a tube of Urban Decay’s new Eyeshadow Transforming Potion ($17, Beauty.com).

Bare Minerals Weather Everything is designed to be mixed with the brand’s eyeliner shadows in order to create a highly-pigmented liquid liner that must be applied with an eyeliner brush.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Transforming Potion is similar to Liquif-Eye. It comes in a nifty, double-ended tube with a wide line brush on one side and a thin line brush on the other.

With these choices, our turquoise-liner-loving customer faced only one remaining dilemma: which eyeshadow transforming liner to use?
