Get Ready for a Beauty-full Valentine’s Day

I love Valentine’s Day — flowers, hearts, chocolates, plush gorilla dolls sporting pink sweaters. Most importantly, though, Valentine’s is a great occasion to indulge in some of the best that beauty has to offer.

Whether you’re glamming it up for a hot date with Mr. Wonderful, gearing up for a wild night on the town with your girlfriends, or cuddling up for a relaxing night at home, I’ve got some deliciously self-indulgent beauty tips to get you looking and feeling gorgeous on Valentine’s Day.

For a single gal’s night in…
For a single girl’s night at home (or for some extra-indulgent pre-party preparation), treat yourself to an at-home spa experience.

Start with a nice, long, stress-busting, hot bath. Typically, baths that last longer than twenty minutes or are too hot are a beauty no-no since they can dry out your skin. But bah lovebug, this is Valentine’s Day! Surround yourself with candles, cue the soft music, and soak in there as long as you want…just be sure to mix up a bath that will help moisturize your skin.

Try spoiling yourself with Agent Provocateur’s Bubble Luscious Foam Bath, which contains honey, milk proteins, and sweet almond oil to soften and nourish your skin. Plus, the exotic fragrance of sweet Moroccan Rose, Egyptian Jasmine, and White Gardenia blended with amber and musk is absolutely swoon-worthy.

After your bath, while your skin is still damp, replenish and lock in moisture by slathering on an extra rich body oil such as Nars Monoi Body Glow II Body Oil ($59, Beauty.com).

For lovebirds who decide to spend the night in their love nest…
If you’re planning a romantic night at home with your love muffin, follow up a romantic bath by spoiling each other with a full body rubdown that delights all the senses.

To shop for some seductive — but not sleazy — adult gifts, check out Booty Parlor. Bolstered by a celebrity following that includes Eva Longoria, Cameron Diaz, and Jessica Biel, this site has become an increasingly popular shopping destination for fun, sexy products.

One treat to try on Valentine’s night is the Don’t Stop Massage Oil, which is super slick and silky. Just pour it on, rub it in, and…I’ll let you figure out where to go from there ;)

For a hot night out on the town…
If you’ve scheduled a hot date or are planning to paint the town lipstick-red, you’re going to need some serious beauty essentials.

First, create “come hither” curves with a shimmery body powder such as Urban Decay Sparkly Sweet Body Powder in Caramel ($26, Beauty.com). Brush a little of this caramel-flavored contouring powder between the cleavage and across your decolletage to get your skin glowing and ready for action.

Whatever makeup look you decide on — whether it’s smokey eyes paired with nude lips or subtle eyes teamed with smooch-inducing classic red lips — make sure to pack your purse with a few essentials for on-the-go makeup touch-ups.

To maximize valuable real estate in your purse, pack Q-tips loaded with eyeshadow in a small plastic baggy and opt for oil blotting papers instead of a powder compact.

A final word on your Valentine’s Day preparations: it’s hard to truly love someone if you don’t love yourself. So fellow makeup moxies, whatever you decide to do this Valentine’s Day, just make sure to take some time to really pamper yourself. You — and your sweetheart (or future sweetheart :) — deserve it!
