I recently found the cutest makeup bags in, of all places, my favorite grocery store. I guess it should come as no surprise, since Whole Foods has a great little cosmetics section that largely specializes in organic and fair trade products. Quick tip: Whole Foods and other organic food stores are a treasure trove for great homemade skin products, but more on that another time!
The cosmetics bags I discovered are marketed under the brand World of Good, which specializes in bringing fair trade products made by artisans around the world into the U.S. retail market. World of good claims to provide access to fair wages, safe working conditions and long-term economic sustainability and it also reinvests 10% of its profits back into the artisan communities with which it trades.

I’m loving my new Come Full Circle Cosmetic Bag, which I snagged for $14. It’s made out of 100% silk, roomy enough to hold all your essentials (and then some), and it features several small outer pockets for easy access to essentials like your cellphone, lip gloss, powder papers, and eyelash comb.
Another super cool thing about World of Good products is that each of them come with their own story. The story behind the Come Full Circle Cosmetic Bags is that they are handmade by rural, economically disadvantaged men and women in Cambodia who produce the bags to help support themselves and send their children to school.
I think I’m going to have to go back and get myself a Carrying Good Karma Cosmetics Bag as well. This bag is made by Teddy Exports, a fair trade organization that helps fund a school, health center, and HIV clinic in India. As you can see from the pic, it’s irresistably cute, too.
World of Good also sells some very pretty jewelry and funky accessories. You can check out all this stuff at: http://www.worldofgood.com/
