Neutrogena Healthy Skin Glow Sheer is an oil-free, super light foundation that claims to offer “[s]heer, natural coverage and just a touch of shimmer for a healthy radiant look.”
These Glow Sheers feel much more like a dewy tinted moisturizer than a foundation and wear much more comfortably than Neutrogena’s Healthy Skin Enhancer Tinted Moisturizer, which, despite some positive reviews, I found to be a bit chalky-looking.
Glow Sheers are sure to be a big summer hit, since they are so easy to wear and boast a healthy dose of SPF 30 sun protection. This is one of those products that you can throw into your beach bag and easily apply (sans mirror) and get a glowing, natural look. While there is just enough pigment to even out your skin tone, this product does not offer any real coverage. You’ll still need your concealer if you want to hide any dark circles or blemishes and, if you have very oily skin, you’ll eventually need a swipe of powder to keep the shinies at bay.
If you have aging skin or are shimmer-shy, don’t let the fact that this product has a little shimmer in it keep you from trying it out. The shimmer is very subtle and practically imperceptible.
The product comes in six forgiving shades, one of which is a bronzer that contains a small amount of self-tanner for developing a gradual faux glow.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Glow Sheer is a winner and I’d definitely buy it again.
This product is available for $12.25 from Drugstore.com.

I have to admit, this is an excellent product. I find that it is comparable to Stila Tinted Moisturizer. It is very light, not like foundation. And it gives your skin a healthy glow, Not a shiny looking glow. It’s only like $12, you can’t go wrong with this product.

Hi Jules! Thanks so much for the comment…this is definitely one of my drugstore favorites.
And I agree that it is comparable to Stila Tinted Moisturizer. If I remember correctly, they wear similarly, but the Stila Moisturizer feels just a little better on the skin. Did you have a similar experience?

Yes, the Stila Tinted Moisturizer is more luxurious. And I do find I can smell the spf more in the Neutrogena product vs the Stila product. But, all in all excellent for this price. I also wanted to say that I tried the Ultimate Mascara Secret, and it worked beautifully. Sometimes waterproof formulas can be difficult to remove but I found it came off quite easily with my clinique “take the day off” cleansing balm.

interesting, I didn’t think that spf had a scent…I thought it was just the fragrance that Neutrogena added to this moisturizer (which doesn’t bother me, but I could also do without it ; )
Oh and that’s awesome that the Ultimate Mascara Secret worked successfully for you! (and came off easily, too ; )
I haven’t tried Clinique Cleansing Balm, but I’m always on the lookout for a good waterproof makeup remover. Thanks for mentioning it!

Hi. I’m looking for something great for summer that’s not to heavy or made-up looking. I currently have Covergirl Clean Liquid Makeup, Almay Smartshade Foundation, and Covergirl Trublend Makeup (I’m a makeup junkie) but I have yet to find the “perfect” foundation. I don’t like the severely “made-up” look and want a softer, natural look. I have freckles and normal, pale skin with little to no blemishes. I have read your review on Maybellines’ Mineral Foundation, also, and I have mixed feelings about trying that. Should I try this product, Maybelline’s, or something else?

Hi there, KK! Thanks for the question!
If you’re looking for something more sheer and natural-looking than the foundations you mentioned, then, yes, Neutrogena Healthy Skin Glow Sheer is a great choice. It’s one of my top picks for summer because it boasts a lot of sun protection (SPF 30). Another product you might like is Covergirl Smoothers Tinted Moisturizer which is very sheer, but still offers enough coverage to even out skin tone and make your skin look dewy.
If those are too sheer for you, then you should definitely look into the Maybelline Mineral Power Liquid Foundation. It has a little more coverage than a tinted moisturizer, but not as much coverage as regular foundation.
Another thing you can try, if you haven’t already, is to mix your favorite moisturizer with one of the foundations that you already have. Add more or less foundation depending on the level of coverage that you want ; )
Hope that helps!

I have this and love it. It wears well and gives you just enough coverage and a healthy glow. I also like 100% Pure’s tinted moisturizer. It smells great and also give great coverage and glow.

Hey again! I decided to buy this product and LOVED IT!!!! I’m already almost on my second tube. I have a lot of freckles, but I don’t really mind if they show. I like how this foundation wears like a tinted moisturizer and offers SPF protection for my fair skin. It gives me the dewy complexion that I always strive for. The only problem is, usually i just apply my foundation under my eyes and it takes care of my horrendous dark circles, but for this I actually had to use concealor. Despite that, this is definatly one of my favorite products, and deserves a permenent place in my makeup bag.

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for the tip! I haven’t tried anything from 100% Pure, so it sounds like the tinted moisturizer is a good place to start ; )

And woo-hoo, KK! I’m so glad that you’re loving this stuff! (and you reminded me that I need to run out and buy some because I’m almost out too ; )
And I’ll tell you something about freckles….ever since I was a kid, I always, ALWAYS wanted freckles. I think they’re so pretty : )

I was wondering, i don’t wear makeup much, but my skin tends to be a tad red. In a magazine I read, it recommends this. What do you think? Oh, and is this a type of product that you need to wash off at night? The only reason i’m asking is because it says its moisturizer…
