Smashbox O-Glow Product Review

PHOTO: Smashbox on Sephora.com

Smashbox O-Glow can really get you blushing…but you may need to experiment with it a bit in order to get the effect you want.

What is Smashbox O-Glow? O-Glow is a silicone-based gel blush that goes on clear but, according to Smashbox, creates a microcirculatory effect that results in a perfect rosy flush that is created by your own personal skin chemistry (but it’s really the same sheer shade of “just-pinched” pink on everyone ; )

Furthermore, O-Glow is supposed to energize your skin with Goji Berry-C Complex, a formula that contains antioxidants like vitamin C, pomegranate seed oil and marine plankton. The product is also preservative and fragrance-free.

Does Smashbox O-Glow Really Work? Yes, O-Glow works pretty well — under certain conditions. Even though Smashbox states that O-Glow can be used on bare skin or over makeup, I’ve found that it works best on bare skin or under makeup. Even when applied generously over makeup (about double a pea-sized amount), I found that the gel failed to turn very pink and there was much more pigment on my fingertips than on my cheeks.

When I applied it to my bare cheeks, I got a rush of hot pink color (the double pea-sized amount was way too much). After a bit more experimentation, I also found that O-Glow worked very well when blending onto bare cheeks before applying a mineral makeup like Bare Minerals. It really did give that coveted effect of a natural flush.

I recommend O-Glow. Just make sure to play around with it and give it a fair chance if it doesn’t give you the effect that you want when you first use it.

Smashbox O-Glow is available for $26 from Sephora.

this blush is awesome…BUT only looked good for me in the winter. Since it works by the temp of your body, it is waaay too pink in the summer. But in the winter it gives that perfectly rosy cheek. The lipgloss is awesome too.

Way too pink for my complexion, but I’ve seen it work for my other friends.
