Revlon 3D Extreme Mascara Reviews

The new Revlon 3D Extreme Mascara is definitely one of the best new mascaras to enter into the beauty marketplace. Unlike most new mascaras, Revlon has released both its regular and waterproof versions at the same time, so I’m combining the reviews of both the regular, non-waterproof Revlon 3D Extreme Mascara and the waterproof Revlon 3D Extreme Mascara below.

What is Revlon 3D Extreme Mascara? The newest of Revlon’s collection of mascaras, Extreme 3D Mascara is a patented gel formula that is supposed to provide “intense color” without caking or flaking. Revlon also claims that the different-lengthed bristles on the product’s “Bold Impact Brush” help achieve thicker-, longer-, and curvier-looking lashes.

Does Revlon 3D Mascara Work? Yes, and I’m pretty impressed. This long-wearing mascara thickens and elongates lashes without uncurling them and it truly stands up to and even surpasses many of the much more expensive mascaras.

While Revlon makes a big deal about this mascara’s brush, I found that it seems to hold an unusually large amount of product when you first pull it out of the tube and you really have to tissue it off to avoid applying too much. Once you’ve done that, however, it doesn’t negatively effect the actual product and the slightly smaller-size of the brush does help in applying mascara to those little, hard-to-reach lashes.

One of the most notable aspects of this mascara is how similarly the waterproof and non-waterproof formulas perform. There has never been an instance when I’ve tried both the waterproof and non-waterproof versions of a mascara and have not been able to easily tell the difference. For me, the waterproof version always makes lashes darker, thicker, longer, preserves eyelash curl better, and stays on longer without running or smearing.

While these products are not perfectly identical, the difference in their performances is far less perceptible than with any other products I’ve tried. The waterproof formula still comes out just a teensy bit ahead in terms of length, thickness, pigment, curl, and staying power. However, the fact that the non-waterproof version does almost as well — and still comes off easily with plain old Cetaphil and water — is pretty remarkable.

The Bottom Line on Revlon 3D Extreme Mascara
3D Extreme Mascara is an excellent product. The waterproof 3D Extreme Mascara performed beautifully and the regular 3D Extreme Mascara is truly one of the best non-waterproof mascaras that I’ve ever tried.

Currently, 3D Extreme Mascara is only available from Target and costs about $7.50.

Has anyone else tried Revlon 3D Extreme Mascara? What do you think of it?

so it is only available at Target for now? not walmart or kroger or walgreens?

  • 2 Jazmin, MakeupMoxie.com // Jul 22, 2007 at 9:07 pm

Hi! While Revlon 3D Extreme mascara was first released in Target, I’ve seen it pop up at my local Smith’s grocery store (owned by Kroger) as well as CVS drugstores.

I haven’t seen it in at Wal-mart or Walgreens yet.

Please also keep in mind that products are often released in some regions before others (I’m in the Southwest/Las Vegas), so give your local stores a call to check for availability.

When you try this mascara out, please be sure to swing by again and let me know what you think!

    Good luck!

Hi there. I was just wondering if you really think that this is worth buying, becuase i have bought several diffrent mascaras, and just can’t find one thats really works. I’m now with Lancome Mascara, its good, but wondering if there was mascara just as good for a lower price. Thats why i’ve rolled upon this new Revlon 3D Extreme, but can’t decide if i want to buy yet. So i am double checking by asking you, and if you would recommend it!

    Okay Thanks!

    Hi Katie,

I definitely recommend Revlon 3D Extreme as an excellent all-around mascara — especially for $7.50.

I’m partial to the waterproof version, but I think the non-waterproof formula is also very good.

Which Lancome mascara have you been using?

I can recommend something else you might like if you let me know more about what you’re looking for:

    1. Do you want waterproof or non-waterproof?

    2. Are you looking more for a volumizing or lenghthening mascara?

    3. How much do you want to spend?

If you’re looking for a heavy-hitter that gives volume, length, and doesn’t budge, you can also try out The Ultimate Mascara Trick on Makeup Moxie’s main site.

The brush holds so much mascara that you do have to tissue quite a bit off, which is irritating because you only get half a tube (the other half is all in your tissues). I don’t really feel that it makes that much of a difference, at least not enough to put up with having to clean off your brush before applying. I think I will stick with old faithful…my $3 Great Lash by Maybelline.

It’s really interesting to hear that someone else had the same problems with Revlon 3D’s little brush (Revlon, are you listening?)

Thanks so much for sharing your opinion!

  • 7 mouse // Jul 30, 2007 at 3:36 pm

I had really high hopes for this mascara! But I was very disappointed! :( Revlon makes a big deal about the brush and while it may be very effective once you wipe off the excessive amount of product, which is actually the bigger problem. Although it was easy to remove, and the volume it produced was above average, it totally sucked the curl out of my lashes—which was a complete deal breaker. I think I’ll stick with my favorite Lash Discovery by Maybelline.

  • 8 Lizamichatello // Jul 31, 2007 at 2:45 pm

As a mascara addict, I tried this one the moment I saw it. I personally loved it. My lashes are naturally pretty cooperative (lengthy, moderately thick) and this made them look downright fake. It was amazing.

A lot of product did come out on the wand, which was frustrating, but since it’s almost too dramatic for everyday use, I guess I don’t feel too bad about wasting some. But highly recommended if your lashes need a boost.

  • 9 Jazmin, MakeupMoxie.com // Aug 1, 2007 at 2:25 am

Mouse: Nice to see you again! Thanks for the comment. Did you try the waterproof or non-waterproof version?

lizamichatello: Thanks for sharing your experience!

I wore this mascara again today and I agree with Liza that this mascara is great if your “lashes need a boost.”

I also realized that you might get better results with this mascara if you apply one very light coat, comb it out if necessary, and then apply a second coat if you want more volume. Applying a couple light layers of mascara rather than loading it on right away should help with “uncurling” or clumping problems.

Well, i did what you said and i bought it! They do have it at Wal-Mart, and it was almost sold out at my nearest Wal-Mart so i grabbed the last one. I was so excited to use it, so the next morning after using my eye lash curler, i opened the tube, and i first i was a little questionable about the size of the brush, it was tiny compared to most. But i gave it a shot, and this Mascara doesn’t just volumize your lashes, but curls, and lengthens them as well, i would deffinatley reccomend this to anyone, who wants to make their eyelashes look their fullest everyday!

    Thanks Again!
    Katie

Katie, I’m so happy you like it!! (and that were able to snag the last one ;)

Please make sure to come back and chat any time. I love hearing from my fellow makeup moxies!

  • 12 Anonymous // Aug 16, 2007 at 1:26 am

I love mascara! Revlon’s 3D Extreme mascara, while it doesn’t make my lashes Jessica Alba dramatic, certainly thickens, lengthens and curls. I bought the waterproof option which truly lives up to its label. My only problem with this mascara is washing it off. It seems to clump into tiny pieces that sometimes get in my eyes. Also it seems like I can still pull chunks of it out of my lashes after they’ve been washed. Overall though, I loved this product.

  • 13 Jazmin // Aug 17, 2007 at 4:40 pm

Ooh, glad you like it! What kind of makeup remover are you using? A good eye makeup remover shouldn’t leave any traces of mascara. (I like Korres Jasmine Eye Makeup remover and my drugstore fave is Neutrogena oil-free eye makeup remover).

Try soaking a cotton ball with waterproof makeup remover and holding it against your lashes for 5-10 seconds to help loosen up the mascara. Then gently smooth the cotton ball down the length of your lashes to remove it.

    Hope that helps!

  • 14 marly // Aug 27, 2007 at 11:21 am

I’ve been using L’Oreal Voluminous-first the non-waterproof and when that’s dry-the waterproof. I do both because when I used only the non-waterproof and worked out, I had black streaks down my sweat-soaked face.People think that I wear false lashes. However, because I really load up on the stuff, the removal takes time and is hard on my eyes so it’s time to switch to a good non-waterproof. I tried Blinc and it was awful. It made my long lashes look like little threads. So, I’m looking for a superior non-waterproof and (dream on) I’d like it in dark green. Any ideas or suggestions?

  • 15 Roze in the Desert // Aug 29, 2007 at 4:34 pm

I HATE IT!!! This is the worst mascara I have ever used. I have been using make up for around 25 years, and I have never paid so much for a mascara that was crap. Talk about caking, clumping, what a MESS!!! I just bought it at Wal Mart 4 days ago, and I have tried it each day since, only to be dissapointed each time. I wish I could get my money back.

  • 16 CC // Aug 31, 2007 at 4:13 pm

I absolutely love this mascara!!! It was funny because the first day I wore it, I went to visit my dad at work and he immediately asked me if I had a different kind of mascara. He told me he likes it a lot and that it makes my eyes look really pretty. Then a couple days later when I went to visit my mom, she said it mades my eyelashes look like they were fake…she loves the volume they give to my lashes and she told me she is jealous!! To think I can get that kind of look out of mascara makes me happy! I have been looking for that “perfect mascara” for so long and this one has come very close to, if not achieved, perfection:):):)

  • 17 D // Nov 10, 2007 at 6:26 am

I LOVE IT! It made my eyelashes darker, longer & thicker. At first I thought the brush was odd. How the heck am I suppose to use this? When I applied as directed using the shorter bristles 1st I was amazed at how dark & full my lashes looked at the base of the lash line! Then I combed thru with the longer bristles & used the tip to touch up the corners & some missed lashes.

Wow, my eyes looked incredible. And that was all I had on them……..no liner, no shadow…just mascara.

  • 18 Kate // Nov 14, 2007 at 9:39 pm

I bought this product yesterday and i was pumped because of the amount of hype surrounding the product. Once i finally tried it i was generally disappointed with it’s performance. I was then wondering a good way to apply the mascara so I googled it on my iPod. I found this review and attempetd wiping the exess mascara on the brush. Suprisingly it worked. Thanks revlon this is a great product despite the fact that it did not live up to its hype.

  • 19 Jaime // Dec 5, 2007 at 12:54 pm

I bought the product yesterday before I came across this site, and I have to agree, it’s a really nice product! I didn’t notice the brush-with-too-much-product-problem really, but I tend to twist the brush all the way out (like you do when you open the mascara, but instead of pulling it out the rest of the way, I continue to twist).

At frist glace, the brush looks odd, like it won’t work, but it worked a heck of a lot better than I thought! Granted, I did notice a little bit of clumping, but I didn’t really comb it out, and it wasn’t enough to look bad. I’m one of those girls with barely there lashes, and only doing 1 eye, I noticed a great amount of difference!

Thanks, Revlon! :) And thanks, Jazmin, for the tips and review!

Hello, Hello, Makeup Moxies! Shame on me for not responding to your comments. Please accept my most sincere apologies and lots of lipstick love ; )

Marly: My darling mascara addict, you’re looking for a “superior”, non-waterproof mascara in dark green? I’ll have to think about that and do some digging. If any of you other Makeup Moxies have a suggestion for Marly, please pipe up!

Roze: Sorry to hear you hate this mascara! Have you tried returning it to Wal-Mart?

CC: Awesome that you’ve found your perfect (or close to perfect ; ) mascara! I truly believe that it’s the Holy Grail of Makeup. And I think that it’s soo cute that your dad notices makeup-type stuff : )

D: Great tips for using the weird brush. Thanks for sharing them!

Kate: Glad I could help you out with this mascara!

Jaime: Hi! You’re welcome! And thank you for the cool “brush-twisting” tip. I’ll definitely have to try that one out ;)

  • 21 ElaineS // Jan 9, 2008 at 1:23 pm

    this stuff wooks great

  • 22 Jazmin // Jan 10, 2008 at 6:10 am

Hi Elaine! Thanks so much for the comment! Glad to hear that you’re loving your Revlon 3D ;)

  • 23 hh // Jan 11, 2008 at 6:05 pm

I was disappointed in this product. I couldn’t even see the shape of the brush as it came out as a giant wad of mud. I normally get lots of complements when I use Maybelline Full and Soft but with the Revlon 3D, my lashes looked terrible. I won’t buy this product again as it costs more, doesn’t work as well, and needs to be excessively blotted before use.

  • 24 Jazmin // Jan 11, 2008 at 7:10 pm

    Hi hh,

Sorry to hear that this mascara didn’t work for you. Our fellow Makeup Moxie Jaime offered a tip in her comment above, saying:

I didn’t notice the brush-with-too-much-product-problem really, but I tend to twist the brush all the way out (like you do when you open the mascara, but instead of pulling it out the rest of the way, I continue to twist).

It’s worth a try, if you’re willing to give this mascara a second chance. If not, at least you still have your Maybelline Full and Soft ;)

    Thanks for commenting!

  • 25 Jae // Jan 15, 2008 at 12:33 pm

I tried this mascara yesterday. I was extremely disappointed in it. I was expecting it to be something like Lash Architect by L’Oreal, but it wasn’t. I’ll likely throw it away.

  • 26 Jazmin // Jan 15, 2008 at 4:18 pm

Hi Jae! Sorry to hear that you didn’t like this mascara…did you try the regular or waterproof version?

And are you able to return it? You shouldn’t have to be stuck paying for something you don’t want to use!

If you’re looking for something specific, please let me know and I can recommend something that you might like!

    Thanks for commenting!

  • 27 Stephanie // Jan 20, 2008 at 11:52 pm

Hi there. I was wondering how you compare the Revlon 3D Extreme Mascara to the new Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara. I’ve seen advertisements for both, and can’t decide which one to buy. Since you’ve tried both, I’d love to hear your opinion! Thanks!

  • 28 Jazmin // Jan 21, 2008 at 9:12 am

Hi Stephanie! Thanks so much for the comment!

Personally, I’d definitely recommend CG Lash Blast over Revlon’s 3D Extreme mascara.

Lash Blast has better color, it’s less clumpy, and it’s easier to use (Revlon’s brush tends to be excessively clumpy when you first pull it out of the tube).

To be fair, Revlon 3D is slightly better when it comes to lengthening, but I think, overall, that Lash Blast is the better mascara.

Hope that helps! Be sure to stop back and let us know what you decided, if you like it, etc ; )

  • 30 Charlie // Jan 29, 2008 at 2:38 pm

Hey!!! I have tryed many mascaras in this world…i actuallyy have tryedd the revlon mascaraa but i just want to know if its safe to use and if theres another mascara thats givess more length and volume and of course curlness…also one thing that i also wanted to tell you is thatt i dont mind how much it costs or anything but please write back!!!

  • 31 Jazmin // Jan 30, 2008 at 10:29 am

Hi Charlie! Thanks for the comment!

This mascara should be safe to use as long as you purchase it new and in a sealed packaged. If you have very sensitive eyes and experience irritation, however, you might want to consult with your doctor about whether you should even be wearing mascara.

As for a mascara that gives more length and volume and retains curl better, I like Diorshow (Waterproof) and the new Covergirl Waterproof Lash Blast.

    Hope that helps!

  • 32 Lea // Jan 31, 2008 at 12:57 pm

I think it sucks, I called them today and requested a refund.

  • 33 Lea // Jan 31, 2008 at 12:58 pm

Maybe I will try the Lash Blast when I get my coupons.

  • 34 Jazmin // Jan 31, 2008 at 4:26 pm

    Hi Lea,

If you’re looking for thickness and volume, then I do recommend Lash Blast over Revlon 3D Extreme.

If you try it out, feel free to leave a comment on my review of Covergirl Lash Blast. Good luck!

  • 35 dar // Feb 6, 2008 at 11:37 am

Which non-waterproof version did you think was better? Revlon 3D Extreme or Lash Blast? I have really straight lashes and want something which will hold a curl well, and still be easy to come off with soap and water. Is there something else you would recommend? thanks =)

  • 36 Jazmin // Feb 7, 2008 at 1:33 pm

    Hi dar,

Thanks for the questions! Out of the non-waterproof versions of these mascara, I think Revlon 3D Extreme did a slightly better job of holding curl (though it’s important to only apply a light coat, otherwise your lashes probably will uncurl)

However, out of the two mascaras, I definitely prefer Lash Blast because it provides better thickness and smudge resistance.

The best non-waterproof mascara that I’ve tried is still Too Faced Lash Injection, so if you don’t mind paying more for it, I highly recommend it.

    Hope that helps!

  • 37 Kasmira // Feb 20, 2008 at 9:55 am

I’ve been using the Revelon 3D for a few months now. It is only the second mascara I’ve ever used that caused people to ask if I were wearing fake lashes. (The first was a Lancome mascara….Definicils maybe?)

Yes, it’s clumpy, but I kind of wipe the clumps back into the tube opening. When I replace the wand, the clumps are pushed back in and no product is wasted. I’ve actually found that most mascaras clump eventually (as they age), so I don’t automatically rule clumpy formulas out.

Here’s a photo of my lashes with the Revlon 3D (yes, it’s an odd photo, and I didn’t take it for the lashes, but it turns out that you can see them well here!):

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/47241502@N00/2174528761/

I am actually considering buying a second tube of this stuff, which is amazing for a mascara whore like myself.

  • 38 anjali // Feb 20, 2008 at 11:09 am

I found this website when I was looking for mascara reviews and I’m so glad I did! I bought 3D Extreme waterproof and the recommended Tweezerman metal folding lash comb at Ulta.
You have to follow the instructions for the mascara and follow with the lash comb. A clean mascara spoolie brush(like the disposable ones they use for mascara testers) also will work. Doing this and not tissuing off the applicator brush before I used it(I just didn’t want to waste all that product) worked well for me. It’s somewhat meticulous the first few times, but the results are worth it.
I hope the people who got clumpy lashes the first time will try it again. My lashes are now dramatically full, long, curled and separated. This is my new favorite mascara.

  • 39 Jazmin // Feb 21, 2008 at 7:50 am

Hi Anjali! Well, I’m so glad you found us, too!!

Thanks for the sharing your opinion on this mascara…and for the great tips ; )

  • 40 anjali // Feb 21, 2008 at 10:15 am

Hilarious picture, Kasmira! Nice lashes too

  • 41 Jazmin // Feb 21, 2008 at 10:57 am

Oh Kasmira! I almost missed your comment there! Anjali…thank you for pointing it out!

LOL, Kasmira, I love the pic!! I’ve never seen a “Cat Butt” air freshener before…too funny!

And wow! Your lashes look awesome : )

  • 42 sarah // Feb 28, 2008 at 6:50 pm

    hey,
i just found your site. i love it! thanks so much for all you do.

i am looking for the perfect drugstore mascara. i recently went to the sephora store on a field trip to nyc. i tried the balm two timer mascara. i loved the brushes. i would like something like that. i have pretty full lashes but not too much curl. average length. simple mascara adds color that looks good, but i want something to take my lashes to the next level.
    any suggestions?

  • 43 Niquoa // Mar 1, 2008 at 6:02 am

This mascara is NOT the best Revlon’s has to offer nor is it the best drugstore one I’ve bought. 3D tends to collect on the tip of my brush in globs. Second, it leaves uneven deposits of mascara on my lashes. I def. use an eyelash comb to wipe away the excess. The brush doesn’t coat my lashes as well as others I’ve used in the past.I do like Almay and Maybeline(?)(green, pink, black bottle). I’ve also had success with Clinique’s mascara.
But overall technique may play a bigger role than the product. When looking in the mirror, tilt your head down a bit,but carefully look up as you apply product to the top lashes. Apply coats quickly. Use a metal tip eyelash brush. PRACTICE!

  • 44 Niquoa // Mar 1, 2008 at 6:27 am

Corretion-To apply a great coat of mascara slightly tilt you head back, not forward, pop open your eyes , and apply the mascara in side(left to right) strokes, then down to up(base to tip). Then use the brush to remove clumps and separate lashes.

  • 45 Jazmin // Mar 3, 2008 at 1:47 pm

Hi Sarah! You’re welcome, sweetie! I’m so glad that you’re enjoying the site!

I hope you had lots of fun on your field trip to NY (it sounds like you obviously had some fun in Sephora ; )

I haven’t tried the Two-Timer mascara, yet but I’ll definitely check it out and see if there are any drugstore mascaras that are similar. But, in the meantime, I can tell you which ones are my current favorites.

If you’re looking for a great thickening mascara, I recommend Covergirl Lash Blast. If you want lengthening and more subtle definition, I really like Maybelline Lash Discovery. Another favorite that provides both length and volume is L’Oreal Voluminous mascara.

For all of them, I recommend the waterproof versions because they do a better job of preserving lash curl and resisting smudges.

When I try out TheBalm mascara, I’ll be sure to publish a review of it. But I hope the recommendations I gave you help out for now!

Hi Niquoa, thanks so much for sharing your opinion of this mascara as well as the application tips!

Which is your favorite Revlon mascara? I agree that 3D isn’t the best drugstore mascara, but I do think that it was among the best of the new mascaras that came out last June ; )

    Thanks for the comments!

  • 46 Elizaveta // Mar 5, 2008 at 12:11 pm

I hate this mascara. It was a total waste of money with all of the clumping and the retarded brush. Cover Girl brushes are way better. On top of everything, this mascare was flaking off. I had a rediculous amount of black flakes and smudges all around my eyes after a couple of hours of wear. SUCKS!

  • 50 Sarah // Mar 10, 2008 at 8:36 am

Heyy! I just have to say that Revlon 3D mascara is about the best mascara i’ve ever used! It doesn’t clump up and it really lenghts my lashes and i love that( i have those unfortunate puny lashes) so an extra boost is amazing! I’ve tried sooooo many mascaras i have a whole droor filled with my old not so performing ones! When I found this mascara it looked very intersting so i thoght why not..ohh my goodness what a great purchase..My eyes look more defined and i dont even have to wear eyeliner..thats a huge pluss. But the one thing i don’t understand is why you say that to much product comes out on the wand. I didnt expeirence this.. so please write back sooon! love your reviews

  • 51 Jazmin // Mar 10, 2008 at 3:54 pm

Hi Elizaveta and Sarah, thanks for sharing your opinion of this mascara!

Sarah, so glad you love the reviews! But that clumping thing…you really didn’t find that the brush on this mascara doesn’t come out of the tube with more product on it than other mascaras?

I’m going to pick up another tube and give it a second look ; )

  • 52 Sarah // Mar 11, 2008 at 10:19 am

okayy thanks Jazmin! but no i did not find this. Is it just the tube? Well anyways i still love this mascara! I do have a couple more questions for you though
1.)do you think that this mascara is better than most of the more expensive kinds
2.)do you feel the same way about not having to wear eyeliner with this mascara?

okayy well thanks again.. keep reviewing i love coming to this site and getting your take on these products before i go out and buy them.. you are really a great help!

  • 53 Deborah // Mar 11, 2008 at 2:53 pm

I just bought this mascara (non waterproof) today and tried it out for the first time….and I absolutely love it. It really does make me look like I’m wearing false eyelashes, in a good way. I didn’t have any problems with the brush either; completely clump free. The only problem (if you can consider it a problem) I have is that it made my lashes SO long that unless I’m very meticulous in curling them, they brush against the lenses of my glasses. It was definatly worth the $8.00 I paid.

  • 54 Jazmin // Mar 13, 2008 at 7:14 am

You’re welcome, Sarah! You are such a sweetie. It’s great to have you here!

As for the 3D Extreme mascara, I’m not sure if it’s the tube that’s the problem. I assumed it was the unusual brush (though it could certainly be some combination of the two as well).

    To answer your questions:

    1. I that this mascara is better than some of the more expensive kinds, but probably not most of them (at the least the ones I’ve tried and reviewed here :)

    2. Not really, but I think wearing eyeliner will come down to a personal choice based on how you want your eyes to look and how thick your lashes are naturally. For example, if I’m in a hurry, I’ll skip the eyeliner because I’m pretty satisfied with the way my lashes look with a thickening mascara (even though my lashes are kinda skimpy ; ). However, if I want more dramatic-looking eyes and lashes, I’ll definitely wear eyeliner.

Deborah: Glad you’re loving your new mascara! And I wish I had your lash “problem” ; )

lol, wasn’t there an old commercial (I think it may have been Covergirl) where a woman had the same problem with her glasses popping off because her lashes were so long?

  • 55 Deborah // Mar 13, 2008 at 3:17 pm

okay…so I posted a comment on this mascara a few days ago (right after I bought it) and now, I think I have to modify it. The first time I used it I had absolutely no problem with the brush….the second time I ended up with one thick, sticky eyelash. *sigh* So yeah. The brush sucks. I can’t just swipe it on and leave the house…however with that said; if I take the time to use my lash comb very thoroughly and apply two carefull coats, I end up with the biggest, fattest, longest, most lushious lashes ever. Very dramatic. So it’s my new “Going Out” mascara, with no eyeliner and retro red lips. When I go to work I’m back to using my plain old Covergirl Lashexact. Still more than worth my eight bucks though.

    Thank you for the update!

Wow, “one thick, sticky eyelash”…talk about a mascara nightmare, lol

Glad you’re still happy with your buy, though ; )

Hey, your reviews are great! I am hoping u can help me out, Ive used Featherlash for a while now, and I liked it. It tended to clump a bit though. But I lost a lot of my makeup on a plane ride so im looking for a good replacement. I have average thickness lashes that are kinda long, but straight. I usually only wear mascara when i go out, and was lookin for more of a dramatic look that will make them a bit thicker and keep them curled. Oh and I would love to find something thats not hard to remove, kinda why i prefer non-waterproof ones. Thanks so much!

Hey, Lisa! Thanks so much…glad you’re enjoying the reviews!

But I”m sorry to hear that you lost your makeup…and while traveling, which really sucks!

Out of the mascaras that I’ve tried, the one that’s the closest to the one you described (offers thickness, holds curl, and is non-waterproof/easy to remove), is Too Faced Lash Injection. Hourglass Superficial Lash is also a very good one.

As far as drugstore mascaras go, you might like Cover Girl Lash Blast (which I prefer because it offers more thickness) as well as Revlon 3D Extreme. Though less expensive than the two other mascaras that I listed above, these two don’t hold lash curl quite as well (the trick is to apply only a light coat).

    Hope that helps!

Ok, well it’s not that bad… I just wouldn’t recommend it because I have used it and it didn’t turn out like I thought it would… =)

i purchased two of these mascaras and was very disappointed with the product. I paid 9.99 at Walgreen and am returning the unopened tube for a refund. Very disappointed.

This is a great web site. I’m a busy teacher and working mom. I am very lucky and have great lashes. I would just liketo know what mascara you think is the longest lasting? I’ve been using Este Lauder Double Wear Waterproof. It works well. I just bet there is something out there that may work even better and is cheaper. $25.00 bucks a tube is a steep price on a teacher’s salary. Thanks!

Hi Emily and Robyn, so sorry for the delay in responding, ladies! What kind of mascara are you moxies looking for?

  • 64 Jazmin // Jul 2, 2008 at 2:50 pm

Busy Working Mom, thank you! I’m glad to hear that you’re enjoying the site : )

I haven’t tried Estee Lauder Double Wear, but the hands-down most long-lasting mascara that I’ve ever tried is Tarte 4 Day Stay Lash Stain ($18 from Sephora).

Though they don’t perform as well as the Tarte Lash Stain, some even more budget-friendly options are the waterproof versions of Maybelline Lash Discovery (for a more natural look), L’Oreal Voluminous mascara (for a little more oomph), or this double mascara trick (for a lot of drama). Each of those mascaras will only set you back about $7.50 and they should be available at your local drugstore ; ) Hope that helps!
