Ojon Rub-Out Dry Cleanser Review
I’m addicted to Ojon Rub-Out Dry Cleanser.
Not only is Ojon Rub Out dry shampoo a quick fix for battling greasy hair between washes (or when you simply don’t have time to wash your hair), but it’s also a great styling product to use any time you want extra volume.
What is Ojon Rub-Out Dry Cleanser? Ojon Rub-Out Dry Cleanser is a dry shampoo that uses ingredients like white clay, silk powder, rice, and potato starches to absorb excess dirt, oil, and product build-up in your hair. To use Ojon Rub-Out, spray it throughout your hair and scalp and massage gently from root to tip.
Does Ojon Rub-Out Dry Shampoo Work? Yes, and I’ve become obsessed with it. Ojon Rub-Out excels at soaking up grease and refreshing your coif without leaving your hair looking dull or powdery.
Another notable strength of this product is that it is colorless. Since I have black hair, I have had trouble using some dry shampoos (or things like baby powder) in the past because it tends to show up in my hair. Ojon Rub-Out is completely undetectable.
Ojon Rub-Out works so well that I’ve actually taken to using it even when my hair isn’t dirty. Besides the fact that I totally love its clean, slightly nutty fragrance, I’ve found that this dry shampoo adds some serious volume and texture to my naturally fine, slightly limp locks.
When I’m done blowdrying or using my favorite wavy summer hair trick, I spray a little Rub-Out into my roots and down the length of my hair and then scrunch and tousle my way to full, sexy hair.
Ojon Rub-Out has easily made its way onto my “favorite product” list and it definitely tops my list of best dry shampoos.
Ojon Rub-Out Dry Cleanser is available from Sephora or you can snag a bottle online from Beauty.com for $24.
Has anyone tried Ojon Dry Shampoo? What do you think of it?

I have not tried their dry shampoo (only b/c they were sold out when i got there) But OMG I have tried the Animated Styling Cream (has creatin in it to add volume. Yes! creatin like the body builders use) and the Revitalizing Mist which add amazing shine, and leaves my hair soft. I must say that I am in LOVE with the Ojon line! I would love to see you review these products.

Where can you buy these products - salons or beauty supply stores?
5 Jazmin // Oct 10, 2007 at 6:43 pm
Hi Chris! You can buy Ojon at some salons and at beauty stores like Sephora, Ulta, and Pure Beauty.
To find a salon/retailer in your area, check out: Ojon’s Salon Locator.
You can also snag Ojon online from places like Sephora.com and Beauty.com :)

I also have black hair and talc makes it grey:( I had been using the Bumble and Bumble brown powder spray, but it was coming off on my pillow. This product sounds promising.
Also, I’m a hairstylist and would like to mention that dry shampoo sprays are not just for oily types. We use it in the salon to give volume to flat hair(that’s me!), and “grip” to any hair type for up-dos. You can also use it to extend your set or blowout. Less washing is good for preserving haircolor and maintaining healthy pH, anyway

Hi Anjali!
If you try this, please be sure to stop back and share your expert opinion on it!
And thank you for sharing your wonderful tips! I think that’s so cool that you’re a hairstylist…I feel like hairstylists are like men. It can be hard to find the right one…but when you do, hang on to them and treat them right! lol

You can also get the Ojon products on QVC.com. They run some good deals and also have the shampoos and conditioners in gigantic sizes to save a little money since this stuff ain’t cheap!!

I adore this! I’ve been using it for about 3 months and it’s simply made my hair experience so much better. I have been growing out my previously short, layered hair to achieve a Nancy Kwan-type bob. The result is that my one-length hair is much finer in texture, and can look a little limp. Since using the Rub-Out I have volume galore, plus I don’t have to wash my hair as often. Better for it, better for me.

tantejoan: I apologize for somehow missing your comment there! But please know that I really appreciate it that you left a comment…and I’m glad that the Rub-Out is working so well for you!

I’ve been looking for a cure for “helmet hair”. Baby powder simply turned my hair white. Think this will work?
13 Jazmin // Apr 25, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Ahh, the dreaded helmet hair! And, yep, I think this will definitely help.
I think it works better than baby powder in every way — it absorbs oil better, adds more volume, smells better (at least I think so ; ), and it’s definitely better when it comes to *not* making your hair look white.
If you want to give the baby powder another try, however, there are a couple tricks to making it work (even on dark hair)…Don’t sprinkle it directly on your hair. Instead, sprinkle a little into your hands and then get rid of the excess by rubbing your hands together over a sink.
With the powder that’s left over, rub your fingers and hands through your hair, concentrating on the scalp. Keep repeating until your hair is less oily. Since you’re only using such a small amount at a time and thoroughly working it into your hair, it has much less of a tendency to appear white ; )
Hope that helps!

http://www.sephora.com has a smaller size available for $10. Great chance to try it and not commit to the more expensive one. They’re currently out of stock, but you can set it to email you when they receive more. That’s my plan!

Hi Hawkgirl! Thanks for the tip…though Ojon Rub-Out is by far my favorite dry shampoo. I’d be surprised if you bought the smaller size and didn’t want the big one ; )
When you try it, please be sure to let me know what you think of it!

Love the Ojon Rub Out- I’ve tried Aveda & Bumble and Bumble ’s versions and this one is by far my fave. The fact that the product is a fine mist aerosol really keeps you from over applying and promotes even distribution onto the hair. Although towards the end of the can, the product doesn’t seem to spray as well- it seems to come out a bit more wet- anyone else experienced this? I find it gives my fine hair more texture during styling and keeps my hair looking clean longer when I apply it to clean hair. Also usually dry shampoo products that give volume like this one, give a very matte finish on the hair, but this actually gives some shine. ABSOLUTLEY LOVE IT! I wish they made a larger size!!

I bought this product at Sephora and it worked wonders the first two times I used it. However, the spray stopped working the third time. I successfully returned it through the company and was reimbursed. However, when I bought a new bottle of the product the nozzle stopped working the second time I tried. $24 is too much money to give it a third go.

Hey there, Jennifer! Yep, I’ve had a similar experience with the bottom of the can coming out a little more wet…but I do agree with you — this stuff is awesome and, if they made a larger size, I would definitely be buying it!
19 Jazmin // May 28, 2008 at 10:35 am
Hi Kristin,
Sorry to hear that this product struck out twice with you. I actually had a similar experience the very first time I bought this. I used it once and it was awesome and then it totally stopped working.
My subsequent cans (I think I”m on #3 now, not counting the first defective one) haven’t given me any problems.
And while I love this stuff, I also understand your frustration…in addition to the price, it’s also a pain to have to keep going back to Sephora to do exchanges.

Hey girls! I work at Sephora and have had countless people come and exchange their beloved bottle of Ojon Dry shampoo(I’m an addict myself!). All you have to do is take a needle or safety pin and poke the opening a little and then it should come right out! Hope I saved you a trip to the mall! ;)

Hey Aleksis! Oooh, I love hearing tales from “behind the counter” at Sephora ; )
What a great tip. Thanks so much for sharing it!

Hey i actually love this product but i only used it twice and then the spray stopped working. For this many people to have the same thing happen to them means that they need to change something with the bottle or how they manufacture it.
23 Arlene Belli // Aug 11, 2008 at 2:32 pm
Hey Aleksis, I wish I new your trick about the spray nozzle becfore I threw the can out. I love this stuff.

okay, i need to know what the secret is for applying this, because i bought it last week expecting to fall in love…instead i am frustated that it makes my usually blonde hair look dusted with flour, and takes forever just to rub in. I have super curly hair, so brushing isn’t an option. tips?
