Blinc Kiss Me Mascara Review

Blinc Kiss Me Mascara has developed a devoted following…and now I can understand why. This mascara makes your lashes look noticeably longer, it doesn’t smear, and it’s still gentle enough to easily wash off with warm water.

What is Blinc Kiss Me Mascara? Unlike traditional mascaras that work by “painting” your lashes, Blinc Kiss Me Mascara actually forms tiny “tubes” around your lashes. These little tubes are supposed to add both volume and length while resisting smears, clumps, and smudges.

Furthermore, when you’re ready to remove Kiss Me Mascara, the tubes are supposed to slide off easily using only warm water and gentle pressure.

So does Blinc Kiss Me Mascara really work? Definitely. Though Kiss Me doesn’t offer extreme volume, it has the ability to create superb length. Apply Kiss Me like you normally would for a “natural-but-better” look or give the tips of your lashes a few extra swipes to build true, oooh-la-la length.

Another remarkable feature of this mascara is that it absolutely defies smudging, yet still comes off easily with warm water.

Until I tried Blinc Kiss Me, I never — and I mean never — wore mascara on my bottom lashes because it inevitably smudged and smeared. I swear on my makeup that I’ve been wearing blinc Kiss Me on both my top and bottom lashes and I can go all day without the slightest hint of raccoon eyes.

To top it all off, Kiss Me Mascara even keeps its promise and easily comes off with warm water and gentle pressure (use your fingertips, a warm washcloth, or just stand under the shower).

The Bottomline on Blinc Kiss Me Mascara: This is an excellent mascara if you’re looking for flirty length and zero smudge. Highly recommended.

Blinc Kiss Me Mascara is available for $25 from blinc’s website, Sephora, and other retailers.

Have you tried Blinc Kiss Me Mascara yet? What do you think of it?

I so dislike being a naysayer but I bought two shades of Blinc, purple and blue and I am bitterly disappointed. I have very long lashes but I desire more volume. I didn’t get it. Instead, after following the directions exactly, I ended up with thin purple threads. Quite an expensive experiment on my part. I’m mailing the two to my glamorous friend and hope that she fares better than I did.

Hi Marly! Embrace your “naysaying” :) Products will obviously work differently for different people and having a range of opinions can really help “round out” a review, so thank you for speaking up!

marly- did you use the blinc primer w/ the kiss mee mascara product? the primer actually adds to both the volume and length significantly. they go hand in hand and it works like a charm.

blinc is a fabulous product if you have hypersensitive, extremely allergic eyes like I do, but even with the primer (I bought two tubes) it isn’t a pin on lash blast or volume couture or diorshow, so far as thickening and lengthening go.

however … the primer is excellent beneath just about every other mascara in the world.

I only use blinc because of my severe allergies. It really doesn’t do very much, has to be combed (yeah, tweezerman!) and the tiny amount of contents in the tube (plus the cheapo packaging) rather annoy me given the price.

(however — the primer is a generous size and has a far better brush … I really do love it, with other mascaras, when my eyes are up to it).

Hi Kim and Amy! Thanks so much for your comments…and for bringing up the subject of Blinc lash primer. I’ve been meaning to post a review of it for awhile now because I agree that it very good stuff.

Amy, thanks for also mentioning the use of this mascara for people have sensitive eyes. I hadn’t thought of that, but it makes sense…since this mascara really stays in place and doesn’t flake or run, it’s a great choice for women whose eyes are easily irritated : )

We liked the mascara but want to know what its made of???? Anybody have any ideas?

  • 7 Jazmin // Jan 7, 2008 at 1:19 pm

Hi Jetta and Andi! Thanks so much for the question!

Here is Kiss Me Mascara’s ingredient list:

Water, Ammonium Acrylates Copolymer, Propylene Glycol, Acrylates Copolymer, Triethanolamine, Isopropyl Alcohol, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, May Contain (+/-): Iron Oxides, Ultramarines, Mica, Titanium Dioxide.

The simplified translation: This mascara is basically a cocktail of preservatives, pigments, and other ingredients that help it achieve and maintain its smooth, liquid texture.

What makes this mascara more unique, however, is the use of an ingredient called acrylic copolymer. According to the lovely cosmetic scientists over at The Beauty Brains, this ingredient is similar to ones found in hairsprays and it’s what allows Kiss Me Mascara to form the little tubes around your lashes.

If you want to learn more about the ingredients, you also can take a looky-loo at some of these resources:

    http://www.madehow.com/Volume-3/Mascara.html

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mascara

Paula Begoun’s Ingredient Dictionary (a great resource for looking up the individual ingredients)

Hope that helped answer your question!

Blinc mascara is AWFUL. It wraps around each lash like tar. It will take acetone to take it off. And your lash will come off with it. Do not use this if you want to keep your lashes.

  • 9 Jazmin // Feb 12, 2008 at 1:30 pm

    Hi c,

    Thanks for sharing your opinion.

While I’m sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with this mascara, I have to strongly, but respectfully, disagree with you.

I think you’re joking (though I’m unsure because it can be hard to tell in this medium ; ) It’s extremely important that you never put acetone anywhere close to your face, much less your eyes, otherwise you’re asking for serious irritation and medical problems.

If you follow the directions for this mascara, it is one of the easiest to remove. As I wrote in my review above, Blinc Kiss Me “easily comes off with warm water and gentle pressure (use your fingertips, a warm washcloth, or just stand under the shower).”

I love/hate this product, it is smudgeproof and comes off with water but don’t let anyone fool you your eyelashes do come off too check those tubes. I still use it with the primer but not daily as I don’t have any lashes to spare.

  • 11 Vicki // Mar 27, 2008 at 12:47 pm

I thought the little tubes were neat, it was easy to take off, but I actually DID find that a few little tube pieces broke off during the course of my wearing it. that said, it’s entirely possible I didn’t put enough on. plus, my lashes didn’t seem to stay curled with it. I’d still recommend it though, if only for how cool it is to slide your mascara off at the end of the day! ;)

I might actually give it another try, I tried it ages ago.

  • 12 Vicki // Mar 27, 2008 at 12:47 pm

btw, lashes fall out naturally and grow back. I HIGHLY doubt this mascara makes them fall out.

  • 13 Jazmin // Mar 31, 2008 at 4:47 pm

Hi Toni and Vicki! Thanks for your comments!

And Vicki, I’d tend to agree with you regarding whether this mascara makes your eyelashes fall out.

When you remove this mascara, the little tubes can definitely look like your lashes are falling out (but they’re not). But, Toni, if you continue to have problems with this mascara, you should stop using this product…I hope that helps!

What a disappointment! I had searched for a mascara that would stay on while I taught aerobics and after trying many and then reading the reviews on Kiss Me Mascara I was sure I had found the one. I wore it today to class and ended up with deposits of eyelash goo on my face during class. It didn’t end up just under my eye like the other stuff does when it smudges, no, this was anywhere on my face that it slid to. Yuck. I never spend this type of money on make up and bought the eyeliner as well, unfortunately the store I purchased it from will not take it back. Both MAC and The Body Shop took back their waterproof mascara that didn’t work. I will never spend this much for a make up product again.

  • 15 Jazmin // Jun 17, 2008 at 6:03 pm

tlenberg, sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with this mascara. And it’s surprising to me, since I really have found this to be one of the most smudgeproof.

Have you tried Tarte 4 Day Stay Lash Stain? It’s incredibly smudgeproof.

And, just out of curiosity, what store did you buy your blinc mascara from?

  • 16 Sue // Jul 14, 2008 at 8:04 am

I love Kiss Me mascara! I have extremely oily skin and even the most waterproof mascara starts to run after a couple of hours. This mascara stays put. I love the tubes! The only downside is the mascara looks clumpy on my bottom lashes after I’ve been using the tube for a week or so.

  • 17 Jazmin // Jul 15, 2008 at 2:04 pm

I’m with you on this mascara staying put! Though I haven’t had the problem with the mascara getting clumpy. I guess it’s time to break out that eyelash comb ; )

  • 18 amanda // Sep 2, 2008 at 5:53 pm

I just picked up this mascara and I’m in love! Absolutely everything smears on me & this stuff can last my 16-18 hour long days! Quite a feat really! I use it with a lash primer and its fantastic.

  • 19 AnnMarie // Oct 30, 2008 at 7:49 pm

I just had to chime in and say that I have been using Kiss Me Mascara exclusively ever since I discovered it a couple of years ago, and I will never, ever use any other mascara. It goes on easily, and stays on until I take it off, never ever smudges under my eyes and lasts a really long time. I do find it can go a little thick in the tube after a while, if this is happening to any other loyal user, I have found if I just warm the tube up in my hands a bit it goes on more smoothly. When that stops working, it’s time for a new one! This is definitely, without question, my “desert island” cosmetic.

  • 20 Donna // Nov 4, 2008 at 11:41 am

I’ve been considering purchasing Kiss Me, but have one question … I typically use waterproof mascara in part to avoid any chance of runny, racoon eyes … if my eyes water (which they do with regularity on windy winter days), will my tubes fall off?

  • 21 Jazmin // Nov 5, 2008 at 8:47 am

    Hi Donna,

This mascara should hold up as well as your waterproof mascaras and I think it’s definitely worth a try if you’re looking for a smudgeproof mascara that’s fairly easy to remove. The tubes require gentle pressure to remove, so I think that as long as you take care not to rub your eyes when they water, your mascara should be fine : )

AnnMarie, thanks for the great tips! And, wow, “desert island” cosmetic, that’s serious praise : )

amanda, glad you’re loving this mascara! Which primer do you use?

  • 22 amanda // Nov 6, 2008 at 1:22 pm

I like urban decay lingerie and galoshes for lashes, it adds the right amount of oomph! So far I’ve converted my mom and a friend to this stuff and they are sold.

  • 23 Jazmin // Nov 7, 2008 at 6:37 pm

Oh, I’ve always wanted to try that!! I’ve also been meaning to play around with mascara primers more. I’ve tried a few and they just don’t seem to do too much for me.

  • 24 amanda // Nov 7, 2008 at 9:10 pm

I think it’s worth a shot, when I use the primer I just brush away the excess fibers so it doesn’t clump.

  • 25 Rachel // Jan 5, 2009 at 1:23 pm

I just bought a tube from Sephora. I like it, though it does not come off that easily (I have had some problems with multiple eyelashes coming off with mascara). Also it clumps a lot, does anyone have tips that will get rid of some of the clumps?

  • 26 Aya // Jan 6, 2009 at 1:29 am

Wow, I was going to buy this product…however, hearing all these bad reviews from everyone* got me questioning…. I am sooooo not going to try it…Thanks!

  • 27 Jazmin // Jan 6, 2009 at 5:53 pm

Aya: I’m glad you found the reviews helpful! I really haven’t had problems with this mascara and, depending on what you’re looking for, you might actually like it : ) What kind of mascara do you want?

Rachel: The best way to get rid of the clumps is a good eyelash comb (you can read about my favorite here)

Amanda: I’m adding the primer to my “must try” list ; )

  • 28 jen // Jan 11, 2009 at 4:40 pm

Where else can I get this (in store, not online), other than Sephora? Both Sephoras near my house are sold out! Is there a high end department store that carries it?
