IsaDora Mineral Foundation Powder is the best drugstore mineral makeup that I’ve tried so far.
When compared to a mineral makeup like Bare Escentuals, IsaDora Mineral Foundation is slightly inferior, but only slightly less expensive .
What I like about IsaDora Mineral Makeup:
- Smooth, Natural Finish. Out of all the drugstore-brand mineral foundations that I’ve tried, IsaDora Mineral Foundation did the best job of creating the look of naturally beautiful skin. This mineral powder was very good at blurring imperfections, evening out skin tone, and leaving a radiant finish that didn’t really look or feel like I was wearing makeup.Furthermore, this makeup was long-lasting, required few touch-ups, and didn’t show signs of caking or muddiness.
What I don’t like about IsaDora Mineral Foundation Powder:
- Limited Shade Range. IsaDora Mineral Foundation comes in only 5 shades that work on fair to deep tan skin tones.
- Only Decent Value. IsaDora Mineral Foundation offers only a slightly better value than a brand name mineral makeup like Bare Escentuals. The priciest of the drugstore mineral brands, IsaDora costs $17 for the same amount as a $25 jar of bareMinerals.I found that in order to achieve the same level of medium coverage as I would using bareMinerals, I had to use a little more of the IsaDora makeup. As a result, the overall cost of using IsaDora in the long run is a little closer to the cost of a more expensive mineral makeup such as bareMinerals.
The Bottom Line on IsaDora Mineral Foundation Powder: Even with its limited range of available shades and slightly less refined texture, IsaDora Mineral Makeup is the only drugstore mineral makeup that stands up relatively well when compared to prestige brands.
Deciding whether IsaDora mineral makeup is a good deal depends largely on your personal preferences. If you’re looking to save $5 - $8 and you don’t mind a slightly inferior product, then IsaDora is an excellent choice.
IsaDora Mineral Foundation Powder retails for $16 (for 0.28 ounces) and is available from Walgreens.
Has anyone tried IsaDora Mineral Foundation Powder? What do you think of it?

I have been to every Walgreens Drustore in New Orleans and cannot find Isadora Oil-Free Compact Make-up in “HOT CHOCOLATE” it is the best make-up I have ever found. They tell me that they are discontinuing it. Please tell me where else I may find it.

Hi Bettie, thanks so much for the comment!
I love IsaDora, too…and it really sucks that Walgreen’s stopped carrying it.
But good news! IsaDora is going to be available from http://www.cosmeticmall.com starting March 1st, 2008. Hopefully they’ll carry the compact that you love ;)
Good luck!

Who has the best powder that gives your face a perfect looking complexion??
4 Jazmin // Feb 26, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Hi Barbie,
Thanks for the question! I think deciding what the best powder is depends partly on your skin type.
A popular one that is also one of my favorites (and works for all except those with very, very dry skin) is Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil.

I have oily skin, well more t-zone. I ordered the Bare Minerals and the coverage was good, but my skin is oily. I tried the Revlon mineral makeup and I like to less need to touch up, but the coverage is not there and it looks really pale like..I am also pregnant and have the break outs due to my hormone rage, so I need to coverage..any suggestions?

Hi Tammy!
Thanks so much for the question…and congrats on the baby!
You said that you’re happy with the Bare Minerals coverage, so if you haven’t already, I highly recommend that you try out the “Mineral Veil” by Bare Minerals. It’s a finishing powder that does a great job of absorbing oil and getting rid of shine.
I hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Yeah, we definitely want to play down those break ups and instead play up the glow : )

I have looked in every Walgreens in my immediate area her in Florida. Why did they discontinue carrying this brand? Isadora products were excellent. Now they are coming out with mineral makeup….wonderful. Now ,what store will be carrying Isadora and how can we get it back into Walgreens. Thank you.

Hi Maryann,
As of March 1st, cosmeticmall.com was supposed to be carrying IsaDora makeup (it doesn’t look like Walgreens will be bringing it back).
The problem is that it’s not appearing on the site, yet, but I’ll be sure to post an update, once I hear anything new ; )

I am still checking cosmeticmall for IsaDora makeup but so far it is not on the site as of March 9th.

Hi Ruth,
As of March 13th, IsaDora can be seen on CosmeticMall. However, there’s a note on it saying that the products won’t be available until January 2010.
I know it’s weird and I’m trying to get more information.
Any updates will be located at this post.

Unfortunately, I don’t know of any other place that sells it online.
You can eBay…but that might be cutting it kind of close time-wise!
I hope that’s somewhat helpful, but with or without your IsaDora, I hope you have an awesome spring break!

I looked on the IsaDora website and it lists “light apricot” as the first shade, but it appears to be darker than “light honey”, which is third on the list of shades. WHICH SHADE IS LIGHTEST? I want to order it but I need to know if the shades ARE in lightest-to-darkest order, or if they’re out of order.

Hey Britt, sorry for the delay in responding! if you’re still shopping for your IsaDora foundation, my guess is that 01 LightApricot is the lightest. And that’s purely a guess — I’m really not sure. I just figure that, since the foundations are numbered, it’s likely that the lowest numbers are the lightest.
Wish I could be of more help! Good luck!

I think I know why Walgreen’s discontinue IsaDora mineral foundation. It was very clumpy, like flour and no matter how I tapped the brush, I couldn’t get light coverage. I found Maybelline’s new mineral foundation to be the best drugstore. I’m happy enough to use it instead of Bare Escentuals, which I’ve used until now.

I don’t care for the Maybelline mineral foundation, IsaDora’s was amazing left a smooth natural feeling that other powders just don’t I was depressed when they discontinued it and went around and tried to stock up on all of the foundation and blush I used, but I’m out now. That cosmetics line was amazing, wish they’d bring it back…. or atleast somewhere else start carring it….. if only.

Hi Dorothy! My apologies for the delay in responding! I’m glad you found a great alternative to Bare Escentuals. I really like both IsaDora and Maybelline’s mineral foundations. What kind of brush were you using to apply your IsaDora? I found that applying it with the Bare Escentuals Flawless Face brush allowed me to achieve light coverage (or medium coverage, if I layered more on).

And hi hollygolightly! I wish they’d bring back IsaDora, too. But you can get it online at Cosmeticmall.com
