Boots No7 Calm Skin Redness-Relief Gel Review

The change in seasons always wreaks havoc on my skin. Blustery winds, dry air, and chilly nights all cause my skin to become more sensitive — the dry parts get drier and I even experience some redness and blotchiness.

So I thought this would be the perfect time to take advantage of my opportunity to test out Boots No7 Calm Skin Redness-Relief Gel.

Boots No7 Calm Skin is supposed to help neutralize the appearance of red, irritated skin while working to strengthen the skin’s natural protection against the environment.

Even with its formula that blends ceramides and shea butter along with interesting skin-soothing ingredients like white lupin peptides and extracts of liquorice and chestnut, this “gel” (it’s more of a cross between a gel and a lotion) is surprisingly light and refreshing.

Calm Skin is unscented, easily absorbed, and works quickly to hydrate the skin. While the instructions for this product recommend following up use of the gel with a moisturizer, very oily-skin types are likely to find that this light lotion is all they’ll need for all-day hydration. If you wear it during the day, however, make sure to wear sunscreen since this gel doesn’t contain any sun protection.

While I can’t vouch for this product’s long-term ability to calm chronic redness, I can say that after using Calm Skin for about a week, my skin feels adequately moisturized and it appears more even-toned even after immediate use.

Simple, but elegant and effective, No7 Calm Skin Redness-Relief Gel is available for $19 from Target.

Hi again, I have a Target nearby and a RiteAide next to that, RiteAide will refund your money if the product isn’t what you wanted. So I will try it there. I have tried moisturizers in the past, have a couple that I like, but when I use two or three step combinations, it never fails, something somewhere activates my allergies and my face is hot, red , itchy or all at once. I can’t use any Mary Kay products, Even Aloette, after pregnancy, started upsetting my skin. It has gotten so bad that using anything I had to rub, not only irritated my skin, but caused it to blister and peel. So, as I have said, I try new products carefully, to be sure what they do to my skin. Thanks again.

    Hi again!

When you say “two or three step combinations,” do you mean, as in, your skin care regimen (including cleanser, toner, etc)?

And I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve had those kinds of skin problems…it sounds really painful!

My mom has very sensitive skin too (though no blistering or major peeling), and she’s always had problems finding products that work for her.

Over the last few years, however, she’s settled on Cetaphil face cleanser and Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizer and they seem to be working pretty well for her.
