Matte Minerals Done Right: The Mineral Fusion Review

Mineral Fusion mineral makeup is highly blendable and offers buildable coverage with a smooth, not-too-shiny finish.

After hearing about the Breast Cancer Awareness promotion on Mineral Fusion Starter Kits from Whole Foods, I stopped by my fave grocery store to snap up one of these kits (see, I told you I would!).

Among the goodies in the starter kit are two Mineral Fusion Pressed Base foundations. Blend them together to get your perfect shade or use the lighter one as a concealer ala makeup artist Elke Von Freudenberg’s mineral makeup concealer trick.

I love how this Mineral Fusion foundation has a very finely milled, almost creamy, texture.

While this mineral makeup is definitely more matte than many mineral foundations out there, it’s not dry or chalky-looking and it leaves your skin looking fresh and natural. Definitely a great option for those who prefer a more matte finish in a mineral foundation.

Stay tuned for full reviews of more Mineral Fusion products (just as a preview: I’m loving the Bronzer and Hydration Mist). With a portion going towards Pink United, these $20 Mineral Fusion Starter Kits (a $120 value) are definitely a great buy. Highly recommended.

Also, if you want to take a peek at Mineral Fusion makeup in action, check out the Whole Foods Mineral Makeover Videocast.

Has anyone tried Mineral Fusion mineral makeup? What do you think of it?

Hmmm I always go back and forth on the matte versus shine in mineral makeup. I find that sometimes when I do the more matte mineral makeups they don’t have the same sort of staying power for me. Or maybe since it isn’t as sheer I don’t like the way it wears.

Hey Julie, thanks for stopping by! I’m sort of ambivalent over matte mineral makeup too…but more in terms of its tendency to look chalky.

lol, now that I look at it again, I guess the title of this post shows off my bias about mineral makeup. I feel like Mineral Fusion is “matte done right” because it’s more of a semi-matte (fyi: it also has good staying power).

Ah, the eternal quest for perfect makeup.

If you try Mineral Fusion, please be sure to let me know what you think ;)

The best concealer I have ever used! I am big on lightening up my eye area daily. This product is soft , smooth, not heavy and goes on just beautiful with only a finger. No brush necessary. I absolutely will not use anything else ever again!!

Hi Michele! So glad you’ve found a concealer you love!

It’s funny that you left this comment today…I just ran out of concealer and was searching around for something to use. I ended up using the Mineral Fusion pressed base under my eyes and you’re totally right…great stuff! (especially since my tan is totally faded now and the shades I have match my skin tone even better ; )

    Thanks for the comment!

I absolutely love this product! It evens out my skin tone and blends so nice. Best of all, it looks very natural and can withstand a workout at the gym. I love the lipgloss and bronzer/blush, too.

I’m sold! I’ll never buy another brand as long as Milani is available.

Hi Jessica! Ooops! I think you meant to post this under Milani and not Mineral Fusion? (please correct me if I’m wrong : )

I saw one of your other comments raving about Milani…I’m so glad that you found something you love!
