Too Faced Lash Injection Review

Too Faced Lash Injection definitely deserves a high ranking when it comes to rating non-waterproof mascaras.

Lash Injection’s efficiently fat brush helps to thoroughly coat lashes with a fiber-based formula that builds good length and excellent thickness — all while remaining smudge-free and still holding eyelash curl.

While this mascara has some very minor drawbacks, none of them were by any means a deal-killer for me. For example, Lash Injection has a slight tendency to clump if you load on much more than 3-4 coats, so if you like to go heavy on the mascara, keep your eyelash comb handy and comb fast! This formula dries pretty quickly.

The other drawback to this mascara is that it doesn’t come off as easily as other non-waterproof mascaras. Like blinc Kiss Me mascara and Imju Fiberwig, Lash Injection works by wrapping lashes in tiny tubes that are supposed to wash off easily with soap and warm water. Unlike the other two mascaras, however, Lash Injection requires a bit more time and a bit more cleanser (I was using Cetaphil) to remove it.

This was kind of a pain considering that one of the biggest perks of using non-waterproof mascara is being able to remove it easily. Nevertheless, I’m willing to write this off as just being part of the price you pay for an otherwise all-around formidable mascara.

The Bottomline on Too Faced Lash Injection: I’m nitpicking about the drawbacks to this mascara. Lash Injection is good stuff, and I recommend it.

Too Faced Lash Injection ($19.50) and its cute mini version ($8.50) are both available from Sephora.

Has anyone tried Too Faced Lash Injection? What do you think of it?

I love Too Faced Lash Injection when it’s brand new. But after a few weeks — and I mean two to three weeks — it starts to dry up quickly and doesn’t give that false eyelash look. It also starts to flake pretty badly. But when it’s brand new — it’s fabulous.

Hi Robin! Thanks so much for the comment!

And toss out that mascara! (if you haven’t already ;) It sounds like it’s getting old.

I haven’t noticed my Lash Injection doing that…and my tube’s about 6 weeks old. But then again, I’m always rotating through different mascaras, so maybe I just have a lot more mascara left in the tube :)

I agree with Robin. I loved my two faced lash injection when it was new. It worked beautifully, creating really well defined lashes, but…the tube dried up in matter of 3-4 weeks at best an dit was all down hill. It’s as if the tube was 6 months old, all dried out, flakey and just a general overall mess. For mascara that is alomst $20 a tube I expect more than 3 weeks of product usage.

    Hi Deborah!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience with this product.

It’s odd (and unfortunate) that this mascara is performing this way.

And, Deborah, you’re totally right…for $20 a tube, we definitely should be getting more bang for our buck!

I would have to say out of all of the non-waterproof formulas, this is the best one for holding curl. I guess it’s not as heavy as most non-waterproof formulas. It is pretty good at not smudging. My only complaint is because it forms the tubes around the eyelashes, I feel that it is a little flakey.

    Hi Jules!

Thanks for the comment…I definitely agree with you that this mascara is almost in a class by itself when it comes to non-waterproof mascaras that can actually hold curl (which is actually one of the main reasons why I rated this one of the best beauty products to launch in 2007).

How long have you had yours? Have you been experiencing the problems that Deborah and Robin mentioned above? (the mascara in the tube seems to dry up too quickly)

    Hihi.

I’ve had mine for more than a month now and it’s still the same consitency as when I first bought it. I use it almost 4-5 time a week.

Remember to rotate the brush in the mascara tube instead of PUMPING the brush in the tube. If you pump, you will force in more air, and the air will dry up the formula much faster~

Hi hi, Pam! Thanks so much for sharing your experience with this mascara…and for the excellent tip — which is excellent to keep in mind not only with this mascara, but with all mascaras)!

I am really surprised to read all the good reviews - but I guess that’s why I purchased it in the first place. I bought the mini version and felt it was very dry from day 1, but I blamed that on the small tube. Then I got the full sized version (bad move) and not only is it dry, it clumps off (I have never gotten so much mascara in my eye) and does not coat my tips. I try and try to get it to coat the tips, but I just end up putting more on which creates more clumps I have to comb out.
I think I gave it a more than fair try - sometimes it takes a couple weeks for me and my new mascara to see eye to eye, but after two months I am totally fed up with this junk. I am going back to DiorShow or BadGal.

    Hi Stacy,

Sorry to hear that this mascara didn’t work for you! My only guess is that maybe these mascaras were old when you bought them (though I realize that’s unlikely, since bought two different tubes!).

I agree that DiorShow is a superior mascara (but BadGal’s given me nothing but problems, lol)

Thanks so much for sharing your opinion on Lash Injection!

I a gree with you about how amazing lash injction is. I have had mine about four months, although I rotate between three tubes because my mother felt it gave her too much drama, but I have experienced no problems other then when you wear it, if you stroke your lashes, the tubes slide right off. Just a problem I have seen. :) Although, this problem will not make me change to another mascara, this one is too great!!!

Thanks for sharing your opinion of Lash Injection!

lol, I love how you have 3 tubes of this stuff around…it sounds like you’re a lot less likely to lose your mascara ; )

hi! I just bought Too Faced Lash Injection last week and I love it. It is very good at holding the curls especially when you have dead straight eye lashes. Before Lash Injection I was using Benefit’s Bad Gal lash. Bad Gal lash made my eye lashes seem fuller, but it hardly curled. It also came off easily even with a single tear drop, gets very clumpy and over time it got flaky around my eye lashes. It fell into my eyes and it just gave me bad eye irritation. With Lash Injection it actually opened my eyes and I could see better without the lashes in the way. I found it easier to apply than Bad Gal. It is a little hard to remove, but at least it doesn’t come off with a rain drop.

Hi there! Thanks for the comment!

I totally agree with your opinions on both these mascaras ; )

If you buy your Lash Injection at Sephora, they have a 60 (I think) day refund/return policy and the lady told me it’s 100% satisfaction guaranteed (within that 60 days) so she said that if the Lash Injection dried out during a few weeks, RETURN it and get your money back. She also said that the Mini version is terrible and they are all pretty dry because there isn’t enough product in the tube. So if you have a dry tube, try returning it for a new one. Worst case scenario you just have to return it and get your money back..

Great tip, thanks Emily! And I think the Sephora policy is 30 days to get a refund and 60 for exchanges/store credit ; )

lash injection comes in a smaller tube now, fits in your bag easyer, and it’s $8.50. Save money and product(*it gets old in 3 weeks) by getting that instead if you like this mascara, thats what i plan on doing any way.

    they sell it at sephora.

man i wish i would have read those commets above mine

  • 21 Jazmin // May 19, 2008 at 6:16 am

    Hi Cassandra!

My mini tube of Lash Injection actually lasted a good three months (though I didn’t wear it every day), so I’m not fully convinced that all of the mini tubes are going to go bad quickly.

And I totally agree with you that the mini version is an excellent “travel” mascara…it fits in your bag, it removes with cleanser and water (i.e. you don’t have to pack waterproof eyemakeup remover ; )

hmm… i’m glad you said that, i’m debateing with myself over weither to buy the lash injection or the imju fiberwig stuff.
