Like its loose powder counterpart, Maybelline Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Foundation is best for dry-to-normal-skinned Makeup Moxies whose T-zones don’t experience mid-morning oil slicks.
Mineral Power’s coverage is somewhere between a tinted moisturizer and a regular foundation and when I first applied it, I was pleased with the foundation’s blendable, light-weight texture and fresh, glowy finish.
Unfortunately for me, however, my fresh face didn’t last.
Though it didn’t streak or cake, this foundation just couldn’t win out over my oily skin. Even with the use of my trusty oil-absorbing primer and a good dose of loose face powder, I was still getting a case of the greasies within only about one-and-a-half to two hours after first applying this foundation.
Would I recommend Maybelline Mineral Power Liquid Foundation? At only about $9 a bottle (and conveniently available from your local drugstores, Wal-Mart, and Target), I’d say it’s worth a shot if you have drier skin and you’re looking for a light-to-medium coverage foundation (I think our fellow Makeup Moxies, Mary and Nishita, agree with me on this one ;)
If you have oily skin, however, you’ll probably want to steer clear of this product. Maybelline Liquid Mineral Foundation will really let you shine…but not in a good way.
Important Note: Don’t fall for the mineral marketing trap! The fact that this product is marketed as “Mineral Power” makeup that contains “micro-minerals” really doesn’t mean much. The small amount of minerals that this product actually contains is also present in a number of liquid foundations that have been around for a long time.
Furthermore, this foundation contains all the chemicals and preservatives that are typical of many liquid foundations.
I’m not saying that this isn’t a good product…I’m just saying that I don’t think that it’s particularly special just because it says it has “minerals” in it.
Now your turn, my darling Makeup Moxies. Have you tried this liquid “mineral” makeup, yet? What do you think of it?

i think its funny this makeup has gotten a lot of bad reviews from people with an oily or combination skin type. i found thid foundation absolutely perfect! i hav combination skin and do get oily in my forehead and nose. for me, matte finish foundations look a lil too heavy and end up looking TOO finished or too made up even when applied properly. this foundation has a GREAT range of colors and is the ONLY line in which i hav found a dead ringer for my shade (medium 0, light beige) blends in seamlessly, looks like ur skin is jus naturally that perfect. after about two hours oil does break through so u should either carry blotting tissues or use a light dusting of powder. bt all in all i really do luv this makeup.

Hi Asia! Thanks so much for sharing your experience with this product… and I think that’s awesome that you’ve found something that you love!!

I wanted to pose a question. This blog has already been a major help and inspiration to me (I wish I would have found it sooner), so I wondered if I could bother you for a moment. I just bought myself this foundation and the finishing veil powder because I wanted to try it out. Right now, I’m using Neutrogena Mineral Sheers, and it works great - but sometimes I would like a little more coverage. So I thought this Maybelline foundation was the perfect solution. But - after I brought it home, I got hit with a blast of fear. The last time I used a liquid foundation, (Lor’eal True Match) it gave me these little red bumps all over my cheeks. Needless to say, it’s not an experience I care to repeat. Anyway, maybe I’m just a scaredy-cat, but my reasoning for buying the Maybelline was that it’s made of minerals, so it should be good, right?
If anyone can help me out, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi Stephanie,
Thank you so much for your question and, just so you know, I always love getting questions and comments from fellow makeup moxies, so please feel free to stop by and chat any time!
Now as for whether this foundation is right for your skin…I think that it really depends on what it is, specifically, that caused your skin reaction…which could be a lot of things!
The little red bumps could have been caused not only by ingredients in the L’Oreal foundation, but could even have come from some other product you might have been using, something you might have eaten, or even the weather!
And, along the same lines, even mineral makeup isn’t guaranteed to be “irritation-proof,” since several of the main ingredients (like bismuth oxychloride and, to a lesser extent, even titanium dioxide and zinc oxide) can cause irritation in some people.
I guess the short answer to your question would be “no” — just because a product says it’s made of minerals doesn’t necessarily mean that it won’t irritate your skin…nor does it mean that this makeup will necessarily be irritating, either. As with any skin concern, the best thing to do is to bring it up with your medical doctor/dermatologist and see what they recommend!
I wish I could provide a more simple solution, but I really hope that helps!

HI!
This article has been fairly interesting for me to read. i just recently(as in today) discovered this product and was quite happy that there was finally a mineral make-up that wasn’t a powder. because of my very oily, yet very dry skin type i find powders make my skin look extremely dry. Anyway, i just wanted to know since you say this make-up is not good for oily skin is there any product you know of that is good for oily skin and also has very good coverage (….and wont hurt my wallet) available in canada? i am having a very hard time finding anything!
11 Jazmin // Feb 12, 2008 at 4:31 pm
Hi Jordon,
Thanks so much for reading…and for leaving a comment!
Are you looking for any kind of foundation or mineral makeup specifically? I can recommend some for you, but unfortunately I don’t know if they’ll be available in your area (but I’ll see if I can get some more information for you : )
Mineral makeup generally doesn’t offer much more than medium coverage (the powder tends to look cakey if you apply to much). However, some that you might like are Milani Mineral Foundation as well as L’Oreal Bare Naturale.
As I mentioned in the review above, this foundation isn’t really a “mineral makeup” per se. It markets itself as such, but it’s ingredients are pretty much the same as other liquid foundations.
For affordable liquid foundations that offer very good coverage and can withstand oily skin, you might like to try L’Oreal Perfect Match or Revlon ColorStay. I hope that helps…and I hope you can find these!
: )

reading this page has been very helpful for me these products sound great.I always had trouble finding the perfect foundation for me because you can tell it looks really heavy even though i dont apply much. I just had a question, i dont have oily skin but i have alot of pores will this makeup do any different than the others i have used?

I will look into the products you suggested!
again thank you, you have been a HUGE help!
14 Jazmin // Feb 13, 2008 at 2:30 pm
Hi Lila, I’m so glad that you’ve found these reviews helpful!
What other foundation have you used? Compared to traditional foundations, Maybelline Mineral Power doesn’t mask pores as well because it offers less coverage (though it offers more coverage than a tinted moisturizer).
Thank you for the question. I hope that helps!
Hi Jordan, you’re so welcome, sweetie!! Good luck tracking down those beauty goodies, please be sure to let me know what you end up trying and how you like it!
16 Irene // Feb 15, 2008 at 5:48 am
Hi there,
First of all, thank for the article! It’s nice to know a bit about a product first before spending the money.
Do you have any recommendations for affordable (under or around $20) liquid mineral foundations that offer a bit more coverage than the Maybelline one? Something that offers medium coverage or more? I usually use Almay’s Clear Complexion for overall foundation and Vichy’s Dermablend foundation as a concealer as it offers really good coverage. It’d be nice to have few products in mind before I go out looking for and testing them as I am not quite sure where to even start.
Thanks!
17 Jazmin // Feb 15, 2008 at 6:18 am
Hi Irene, you’re welcome! Thanks so much for the question!
What’s your skin type (dry, oily, combo)? Since you’re using Almay Clear Complexion, I (hopefully correctly ; ) will assume you have at least somewhat oily skin.
At the high end of your price range, you might want to try out Clinique Stay-True Oil-Free Makeup ($19.50)
Another option, which I feel is a real drugstore superstar is L’Oreal True Match (about $10.50).
Both provide medium to full coverage and come in a wide range of shades.
I hope that helps! Have fun and please be sure to let me know how it goes ; )
18 Irene // Feb 17, 2008 at 12:04 am
Hi Jazmin! Thanks for the really quick reply!
My skin is more so combination. I use Almay Clear Complexion because my skin used to break out a bit and I thought that would be less irritating to the skin.
Do you know if there’s any liquid or cream (if they even come in that) foundation of the mineral kind that’d be good for me though? I don’t mind anything around or below $20. I have tried the Revlon and L’Oreal mineral powder foundation on the back of my hand but they don’t seem to cover much and nor are they very user-friendly. I tried the liquid Maybelline one today but it was, as you said, light weight.
Thanks again!
19 Jazmin // Feb 17, 2008 at 8:15 am
Hi Irene! You’re so welcome, babe!
Here’s the deal with liquid “mineral” foundations: they’re pretty much marketing hype since they contain the same mineral ingredients (like mica, titanium dioxide, and iron oxides) that have been used in many liquid foundations for years.
Because there’s nothing new or special about these foundations (nor are there many value-priced liquid foundations out there that are marketed as mineral makeup), my best advice to you is to ignore the marketing and try to find a liquid or cream foundation that works for you.
The ones I mentioned above (Clinique Stay-True and Loreal True Match liquid foundation) are good places to start. If you ever have any questions or if these don’t work out for you, please let me know and I’ll try my best to help you out ; )

hi i have a question to ask if you dont mind.see i bought this make up and started using it about 2 days ago,and yesterday after noon i had bumps all over the back of my neck,im not alergic to any thing and was wondering why i had it …could it be from this product?if so i would newed to stop using it. please get back to me as soon as posable .
thanks,nikki
21 Jazmin // Feb 17, 2008 at 11:18 am
Hi Nikki,
Thanks so much for your question! And I’m sorry to hear that you’ve developed bumps on the back of your neck.
Only a licensed physician can really tell you what’s causing your reaction and, if it doesn’t clear up soon, you should definitely pay your doc a visit.
Have you been applying this foundation to the back of your neck? If you have, you should stop using it (as well as any other skin products or hair products that could have come into contact with the area that has become irritated).
But, seriously, when it comes to this kind of stuff — especially if it lasts for more than a couple days or it recurs — your doctor’s the only one who can truly give you reliable, safe advice.
I hope that’s at least somewhat helpful. Good luck!
22 nikki // Feb 17, 2008 at 11:21 am
thank you very much.that was helpfull but i was not appling it too my neck so it could possably be somthing else …and yes i think i will pay my doc. a visit.
23 Jazmin // Feb 17, 2008 at 11:32 am
You’re welcome, sweetie! I hope your doctor can get it taken care of quickly or, even better yet, that it will clear up super fast on it’s own : )
24 Mae Miller // Feb 19, 2008 at 10:14 am
Maybelline’s Mineral Power: I purchased it to try. My dtr. has the Bare Minerals & I tried it and liked the look. After applying Maybelline’s product my face began to feel hot and itchy. It’s now going on the 3rd week, and 2 doctor’s visits. This makeup has caused tremendous irritation to my skin and should NOT BE USED unless you are POSITIVE your skin can handle the heavy metals in it.
25 Jazmin // Feb 20, 2008 at 8:14 am
Hi Mae, I’m so sorry to hear that this makeup irritated your skin!
And while I believe that your warning is well-intentioned, I think it’s misplaced.
I don’t know what you mean by “heavy metals.” Are you referring to the small amounts of titanium dioxide or iron oxides in this product?
Sensitivity to these substances is rare, which is a good thing since pretty much all mineral makeup (and most foundations, for that matter) contains some of these ingredients.
26 Chere // Feb 26, 2008 at 12:19 pm
I just bought the mineral liquid foundation, the mineral powder foundation, the concealor, and the finishing powder. Although I’m not going anywhere today, I came right home and tried it out to make sure it didn’t turn my face orange or make me look as white as a ghost. I used Bare Naturales before and it dried my face and broke my usual combination but slightly on the dry side skin out after a while. I’m still a little broken out, so here’s what I’m asking. Is it okay to use a little of the liquid foundation after the dot and pat concealer before you use the mineral foundation for better coverage? This might be a stupid question but what exactly are the steps for putting on this makeup? I always knew you did moisturizer and then concealer before anything else. Is that still true? Or is it the moisturizer, liquid foundation, and then the concealer before the mineral makeup? Please help!
27 Jazmin // Feb 26, 2008 at 4:19 pm
Hi Chere! Thanks for the questions!
First off, the powder foundation and the liquid foundation are two separate foundations.
I recommend that you try using each one individually to see how you like them (though using them together is an interesting concept that could be worth experimenting with later ; )
I’m going to give you two different sets of directions depending on which foundation you want to use.
For the liquid foundation:
1. Moisturize
2. Apply the liquid foundation
3. Apply your concealer
5. Set everything with the finishing powder
For the powder foundation:
1. Moisturize
2. Apply concealer
3. Buff on the powder foundation. It’s important to note that, sometimes, applying mineral makeup over concealer can make the concealed areas look a little darker than the rest of your skin.
To prevent this, apply the foundation more lightly over concealed areas. If you find that the concealed areas still turn darker than the surrounding skin, you can try using a concealer that’s a shade or two lighter than you would normally use.
4. Follow up with the finishing powder
If you don’t need a lot of coverage from your concealer, you could also try this option (when using the powder foundation):
1. Moisturize
2. Use the powder foundation itself as your concealer. Using a concealer brush, pat on a layer of the powder foundation over the spot that you want to conceal.
3. Buff on your powder foundation. Avoid buffing directly over the areas where you used concealer. Instead, make sure to buff around the edges of the concealed areas to make them blend seamlessly into the rest of your makeup.
4. Use the finishing powder to further blend the concealed areas and set your makeup.
Remember that, with any of the methods used above, the goal is to have everything blend together seamlessly so that no one realizes that you’re even wearing concealer ; )
I hope that helps!! Please be sure to let me know if you have any other questions ; )

29 Sareen // Feb 29, 2008 at 10:33 am
I was interested in a follow up to one of the questions above. What would you recommend to mask large pores? I just bought this foundation and while I like it, I would agree that it doesn’t do much in the way of pore coverage. (I don’t want anything heavy looking though.)
One more question, I bought the translucent powder to put over this foundation. Should I instead buy one of the colored ones to give me more coverage? (My skin is pinky so I need coverage)
Thanks so much…your responses to everyone are so helpful.
30 Sareen // Feb 29, 2008 at 10:38 am
I should have mentioned that although I have large pores, I somehow have dry skin.
31 Jazmin // Mar 3, 2008 at 2:19 pm
Hi Emily, thanks for the question! For a cheap foundation with great coverage, L’Oreal True Match liquid foundation is one of my faves. I also like Revlon’s ColorStay line and I’ve heard great things about Covergirl TruBlends (though I haven’t tried it yet ; ) Hope that helps!
Hi Sareen! You’re welcome! I hope you find this response to your questions helpful, too!
Oh, those pesky pores! Since pore-size is largely determined by genetics, both oily and dry-skinned types can struggle with having to hide them.
If you’re happy enough with this foundation, then I recommend that you try wearing a face primer beneath it to help “blur over” pores and make them appear less noticeable.
Since you also said that your skin is “pinky”, you might want to try a face primer that will also help adjust your skin coloring at the same time. Smashbox Photo Finish Color Adjust is a primer that not only helps mask pores, but also contains a subtle green tint that helps to tone down pink or red complexions.
If you find that the Color Adjust primer “over corrects” your skin tone (i.e. it makes you appear a bit pasty or green), then you’ll want to try a colorless primer like Smashbox’s regular Photo Finish, Tarte Clean Slate, or Bare Escentuals Prime Time…and try out one of the colored Maybelline powders to help give you a little extra coverage.
Hope that helps! Please let me know how it goes!
34 myra // Mar 10, 2008 at 12:39 am
I was afraid of trying the Maybelline finishing veil, because one the ingredients was “glass”. Could it really have glass in it?
35 Jazmin // Mar 10, 2008 at 3:49 pm
Hi Myra,
Yes the finishing veil does list “glass beads” as its primary ingredient. There isn’t too much information out there on it, but apparently glass can be used as a filler in cosmetics (Guerlain has used it in its face powders) to make the texture feel smoother and to give it a more “radiant” finish.
And, at this point, I wouldn’t be too worried about it. The glass beads are made out of “oxides of aluminum, boron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, silicon and sodium” (Source), which are all common ingredients in mineral makeup.
Furthermore, these miniscule glass beads are a “cosmetic grade” ingredient that is presumed to be safe for use on your face.
Hope that helps! If I find out more, I’ll be sure to post about it ; )
36 Jenn // Mar 11, 2008 at 6:42 am
This has been interesting to read :)
I just bought this makeup (the liquid foundation) a few days ago, and I have worn it twice now & slept in it two nights in a row (because well, I get lazy lol) ;x Anywho- I have I think “oily” skin, and get break outs when I wear liquid foundations, I used to wear the l’oreal true match & it wasn’t bad, but I did tend to get pimples etc. ;/
I haven’t had any problems so far since wearing this foundation & even sleeping in it…and normally nowadays I’ll just wear a powder foundation like mac studio fix or bare minerals, and even sleeping in those I have awakened from sleeping in them with pimples. Sooo, I’d say this foundation seems to work very well so far. (I know sleeping in makeup is a bad thing to do, but sometimes you just end up doing it!)
37 Diana // Mar 11, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Hi
I’m so glad I found this site. Great Info. I use Revlon active color stay for it’s staying power and coverage being that I get oily as the hours go on but I still have been breaking out. I even use a new application sponge every time. I’ve also tried Bare MInerals hoping to be a cure all since my sister swears by it, however for me it does not provide enough coverage and it seems I get oilier with it. Mac foundation powder is great because it is so quick and easy to apply but again, begins to turn orange as the oils come through and coverage isn’t all that great. Any suggestions as to another foundation. It seems I prefer liquid over powder for the coverage factor. I wish the powders
had better coverage.
38 Lisette // Mar 12, 2008 at 9:09 pm
Hi! I am prone to break outs… I have “normal” skin… I guess a little bit of both dry and oil mixed together. I am currently using MAC but ever since I have been using it I have broken out bad. I paid so much for it and don nmot want to use any longer so i have decided to go with a more affordable make up. What would recommend?
39 Lisette // Mar 12, 2008 at 9:14 pm
Jenn– I just read your comment… I have been wearing the MAC Studio Fix as well and breaking out. Thank you for the comment. i think i might go try the Mabelline make up out.
40 Jazmin // Mar 13, 2008 at 6:46 am
Jenn: lol, I think a lot of us commit the beauty sin of sleeping in makeup (I try hard not to, but I inevitably do too)!
But I’m glad to hear that this makeup is working out for you ; )
Hi Diana, I’m so glad that you found this site too! ; )
If you’re looking for a powder foundation with better coverage, you might like Jane Iredale PurePressed Base (my review’s coming soon). It’s fast and easy to apply with excellent, buildable coverage. The only potential drawback is the price — $48 for a compact.
For a cheaper (and liquid) alternative, I’m a fan of L’Oreal True Match liquid foundation because it feels light, but can provide excellent coverage…though I can’t say whether or not it’ll cause breakouts for you.
Another foundation that I’ve been wanting to try and that contains ingredients that are less likely to cause breakouts is CoverGirl’s Trublend Compact Foundation…Lisette, you may be interested in trying this one too ; )
I hope that helps!
41 Vicki // Mar 21, 2008 at 8:04 pm
hi!
just my $0.02…this is the FIRST liquid foundation I’ve found that actually works on me without looking like I’ve spackled my face, and doesn’t make me break out like the other ones. I have quite fair, pink-toned combination skin, and in all lights, this looks natural on me.
42 Odessa // Mar 22, 2008 at 8:08 pm

Hello,
I found your website very usefull and informative. I have a question:
I use Maybelline pressed powder in shade “20 buff” and it matches my skin perfectly. I was wondering how would the buff shade translate to the shades of the “foundation” AND the “loose powder” . The store doesn’t have testers and I don’t want to buy the wrong shade. Thank you very much
44 iris // Mar 25, 2008 at 8:41 am
I want to use a mineral makeup in liwuid for oily skin because poder since to open my pores more since I have large pore thak you I see the you have mineral liquid make up but is for dry skin

46 Jazmin // Mar 26, 2008 at 11:13 am
Vicki: Thanks for sharing your 2 cents ; ) Glad this is working for you!
Odessa: No, you rock! And you’re very welcome!
LadyInRed: Unfortunately, I’m really not sure how the colors will translate from product to product. My best advice to you is to just “eyeball” it and choose the shade that looks closest to your skin tone…but be absolutely sure that you’re purchasing your makeup from a store that will allow you to return or exchange it if it’s the wrong color. In my experience, Walgreen’s and CVS have been extremely good about this ; )
iris: As I mentioned above, this liquid “mineral” makeup has pretty much the same formula as many other liquid foundations. So I think you’re better off looking for a liquid foundation that helps to control oil. You might want to try Revlon Colorstay Foundation for oily skin or Revlon Colorstay Active Light foundation.
Other ways to control oil are to wear a mattifying lotion under your makeup, “set” your makeup with a loose powder, or use facial blotting tissues.
Hope that helps!

49 Ash // Apr 13, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Hi!
I have VERY oily skin, and this makeup did not work for me! I usually use the Revlon ColorStay and have always loved it….I guess I just bought into the “hype” associated with wearing Mineral makeups.
However, I was wondering if you have a suggestion for a good under-the-foundation moisturizer that is oil-free and won’t make me break out. Or do I even need a moisturizer under my makeup if I have oily skin? I always feel like I need something under my makeup, but feel like I can never find a “drugstore” product that is not greasy.
Help! :)
50 Jazmin // Apr 14, 2008 at 7:39 am
Hey, Ash! Thanks for the question!
Though some might disagree with this, I think that even us oily-skinned gals need to wear moisturizer.
Sometimes, if you don’t wear moisturizer, your skin ends up producing even more oil because it’s actually trying to compensate for its lack of moisture.
Having said that, go for something really light. I like Olay Complete All Day Moisture Lotion SPF 15 for Sensitive Skin (make sure you get the one that says “light, non-greasy” on it), Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for Combination Skin, and, if those are still too greasy for you, you can try Biore Pore Minimizing Lightweight Moisturizer.
Another one of my faves, which is also packed with antioxidant benefits, is Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum…but the drawback to this one is that it doesn’t have SPF protection.
Hope that helps! ; )

Hi!
I love your blog, it’s been really informative…I’m very glad I found it!
Between the two Maybelline mineral foundations, which one do you prefer? I’m not sure which one to buy, the powder or the liquid. I have a few dry patches on my skin so I’m afraid the powder will just make them look extra flaky, but I’ve never really worn a liquid foundation before on a regular basis, so it makes me think it’ll feel too heavy.
Thanks for your help :)
54 Jazmin // Apr 23, 2008 at 8:06 am
Hi Ro! Thank you so much…and I ‘m very glad you found this blog too : )
I really think that the choice is a personal one based on your specific needs.
And based on the information you’ve given me, I think you may prefer the liquid foundation. Compared to most other foundations, this one feels pretty light and provides fairly sheer coverage.
In addition, this foundation also offers some moisture, which should hopefully help to smooth and de-emphasize any dry patches.
If you try it and still think it feels or looks too heavy, you might want to try a tinted moisturizer. There are a lot of good ones out there like this one from Stila or this one from Neutrogena.
Be sure to let me know how it goes! ; )
55 Mell // Apr 26, 2008 at 11:18 am
hi, im on my last dose of accutane, so my skin is somewhat dry. however, i need a foundation that won’t make it look worse, [like powder would make it look dryer] and im scared to use a liquid because i dont want it to look caked on. im considering buying this product because of the ‘minerals’ it has in it that wont irritate my skin. Maybelline also has a foundation called “pure makeup” and its 50% water and about $5 cheaper. which do you think would work for me? and what did you apply the liquid foundation with? p.s. i love your blog, it helps alot :)
56 Jazmin // Apr 28, 2008 at 11:52 am
Hi Mell! Thanks for your comment. I’m so glad you’re loving the blog and that you’re finding it helpful : )
I’m sure you know this already, but since you’re on accutane, it’s really really important that you’re using products with sun protection in them. Having said that, the Mineral Power liquid foundation is probably the better choice for you since it has SPF18. Plus, since it’s more sheer than most foundations, you’ll also be able to avoid the “cakey” look.
Other foundations that carry a lower-risk of irritation are L’Oreal True Match and Almay Nearly Naked (both with SPF 15).
If you try any of these foundations and they look too heavy or caked on, you can also try mixing them with a dollop of your sunscreen or moisturizer for lighter coverage.
I usually apply liquid foundation with my fingers…though you can also try applying it with a damp cosmetics sponge (which is another trick for getting a more sheer, non-cakey finish ; )
I hope that helps! Please be sure to let me know what you decide and if it works out for you!
57 Brenda // May 3, 2008 at 7:21 pm
Hi Jazmin,
Great blog! I have been using the Maybelline Mineral Power liquid foundation and I love how light and sheer it is 9and they do have a great range of colours).
A tip to share - I use a flat thin makeup brush (like the MAC #191- but I bought the same thing at Michael’s Crafts for like $7) to blend it (after dotting on my skin) and it works very very nicely. Some gals who like a flawless finish use a brush but it also works for gals like me who like a light natural finish. And when you use a brush there’s no waste (unlike a sponge) and no mess (unlike using fingers).
Have a beautiful day!

I use this and really like it. I tried all the mineral powders and was dissapointed. This gives me great coverage but leaves me looking like I’m wearing no make up. Plus I love that it also feels like I’m not wearing make up. The color is a perfect match for my skin, which is a miracle because I can never find that even at the department store’s beauty counters. Only con, is that it doesn’t seem to be “mineral” in the real sense of the word… but still a keeper in my book!

Brenda, I absolutely love the tip! Thanks for sharing it!
Di, I’m glad that this foundation is working so well for you…and, yes, that whole “mineral” bit really is a piece of marketing magic. But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a good product ; )
Thanks for sharing your opinions, ladies!

I tried it, and had a pretty good result after first applying it. Didnt like how it made my skin really shiny though. But as said, only about an hour later it started getting execively oily on my chin and under my nose/upper lip area, and making these wierd lines of makeup which i had to blend in to get rid of. Also few hours later it settled into my pours(in the same areas which it got oily in), which arn’t that big to begin with, and made them stand out. Its a pretty decent product, but i wouldnt stick with it. My friends kept pointing out that it was slightly darker and pinkier than my skin tone. (I used Classic Ivory. ) It was very annyoing. So im going to keep looking around..

Hi!
Thanks for this review, I found it very helpful. I’m now 13, and am having serious skin and foundation issues. I am getting a lot of bumps and when I do pop anything (which I am very good at =D ) succesfully, the bump will go down but the spot will stay red. I really want to find a great foundation/concealer/moisturizer that will really give me that “flawless” look. I luckily live in a small town and don’t spend my money too much, so price is isn’t a big issue. Nothing over $40 for sure. My skin is dry, and I don’t break out very easily, but my skin is VERY sensitive. I once drank spice tea and the skin around my mouth turned bright red because of the spices xD.
THANK YOU <3

Hi Jazmin and the rest of the make-up moxies!!
Oh this is such a wonderful resource, I only wish I read about this make-up before I bought it. I’m of African decent, and was very happy to find a drug store brand here in Ontario Canada, that had my shade and was affordable.
I do have oily skin and like the others stated before me, all was good for a few hours then it looked like you could fry an egg on my face! lol….my blush was all gone as was my eye shadow. The best thing I found about this product is how light it is, it feels like you’re not wearing anything.
I am a huge fan of smash box anti-shine and use it religiously THAT didn’t even help.
OMG this is getting sooo long sorry ladies!
The pressed powder did nothing for me.
The finishing veil I will keep, to use with my ”make-up forever” make-up. I’ll let everyone know if that works.

I’ve been using the Maybelline Mineral Power liquid foundation for a while now. It has worked very well for my skin. I use Creamy Natural and it’s the perfect shade for my face. I have a natural ruddiness to my skin plus I have moderate sun damage. The Mineral Power foundation does a very good job of covering up my inperfections without creating the mask look and feel. Also, what I like a lot is a little bit goes a long way. I use about a third of what I would with traditional liquid foundation and get an even better result. I have combination/dry skin in winter and combination/oily skin in the summer. So, I do get a bit shiny by the afternoon. But, I use a very good face primer in the mornings and it keeps a lot of the shine at bay. I am not too thrilled with the matching mineral veil powder though. It comes in 3 shades I believe. Light makes me look like I’m sick and medium makes my face look dirty. And because their pressed, I can’t combine the two. Luckily, I’ve so far done very well with just the foundation.

I absolutely LOVE Maybelline Liquid Mineral Foundation!!!! My face gets really oily throughout the day so I can’t use powders because it gets all caky (even expensive powders). Foundation feels like its too thick and seems to run off my face with the oil (disgusting I know), but this foundation did NOT do that for me! I love the fact its only half foundation and then half tinted moisturizer. It feels lighter becuase of this! I only blot my face ONCE throughout the day and I don’t feel compelled to wash my face all the time becuase of the nasty residue typical foundation leaves after applying. I was a little skeptical at first but this makeup is deff. the best ever, for me at least! I have so many other bottles of foundation I no longer use so instead of wasting them I’m actually using them as PAINT for my pictures! At least there not going to waste! :)
