In Part 1 of my review of Korres Guava Lip Butter, I mentioned that the product’s white tint caused this lip butter’s biggest problem: the color clings to dry skin and actually emphasizes the appearance of chapped lips.
This sheer white color, however, is also the key to unlocking one of the product’s greatest strengths.
So what’s the Korres Guava Lip Butter Secret that I’m so twitterpated over?
This white tint in this lip butter is superb for toning down and neutralizing any lip color product that you currently have.
Have a lipstick that you think is too bright? Smooth your Guava lip butter over your lipstick to transform it into a slightly lighter, creamier shade.
Similarly, if you have a lipgloss that’s too dark or too bright, you can make your lipgloss look more subtle by applying a layer of the Guava lip butter on before slicking on your lipgloss.
The added bonus of this beauty trick is that you’ll also be fortifying your lipgloss or lipstick with the excellent, lip-softening benefits of this creamy lip balm.
And as for that pesky problem with the white color of the lip butter highlighting the dry areas on your lips? When you mix this lip butter with a colored lipgloss or lipstick, the problem simply goes away.
This lip butter’s ability to basically double your whole lip color wardrobe — while effectively moisturizing your lips — puts it firmly on my list of “makeup must-have’s.” Highly, highly recommended.
Korres Guava Lip Butter is available for $9 from Sephora.
So have you tried Korres Lip Butter, yet? What do you think of it?

I LOVE the pomegranite lip butter! It’s one of my favorites and you’re right! It’s so addictive.
Now that I know that the guava one works so well, I’m SO gonna buy it!! Thanks for reviewing it!

I am in love with Guava lip butter and my solution to the whiteness is to wear it at night before I go to sleep. I wake up with the most unbelievably soft lips. If I’m staying at home on the weekends, I dip into this butter all day long b/c I love the light scent and the moisturizing properties!!

calypse08: You’re welcome!
Trini: When you try out this lip balm, please be sure to let me know what you think of it! And thanks for sharing your opinion on the pomegranate lip butter…I’ll definitely have to try it!
Shefali: Thanks for sharing that excellent tip! That’s what I do, too!
And I also love how, once your lips are all nice and smooth (i.e. no flakey dry skin at all), it’s not a big deal wearing this lip butter all by itself.
Thanks for the comment!

I love the Korres Lip Butters in Pomagranate and Quince. The colors are beautiful and the product feels so nice on my lips. I wear it alone or on top of lipstick. I have never experienced the “whiteness” you are talking about. Does this only happen with the clear shade?

yep, it only happens with the Guava-flavored lip butter…the description of it says “clear,” but it does have a white tint to it ; )
