One of my favorite myths is that of Psyche and Cupid, a tale which also served as inspiration for one of my favorite sculptures (click the photo above or this link to view the full image).
If you’re not familiar with the story or you need a refresher, I think it makes for some inspiring Valentine’s Day reading. Check out the full version (or, if you’re in a hurry, the Cliff’s Notes version ; )
The moral of the story is that if you follow your heart and you approach life’s challenges with passion and determination (i.e. moxie ; ), you’ll overcome any obstacle…and find that your efforts will be rewarded with true bliss.
There’s no better occasion than Valentine’s Day to celebrate all the love and joy that we currently have…and all the love and happiness that’s yet to come ;)
Have a fun, safe, and beautiful Valentine’s Day, Makeup Moxies!

Thanks for linking to this story. I read it in college, but didn’t remember the details.
After re-reading it, I remember how much I loved it. I still think the weirdest part of the story is that Psyche could actually fall in love with a man she had never seen. It’s just shady that he wouldn’t even let her see him LOL.

Hi tracey!
LOL, yeah, I’ve always found that part of the story unsettling, too, but I guess it’s supposed to represent the high level of trust that’s required to truly be in love ; )
And Happy Valentine’s Day to you, too, Cat! Mmmmwah!! Did you have fun yesterday?
: )
