Controversial Cosmetics, Sleazy Salesmen, and Moob Jobs

Some interesting beauty news from around the world:

  • Singapore retailer yanks ‘Lookin’ Good for Jesus’ cosmetic line from shelves after customers complain that products like “Virtuous Vanilla” lip balm and “Get Tight with Christ” hand and body cream are sacrilegious (SOURCE: BBC)
  • The inappropriate behavior of sleazy salesmen in cosmetic stores has become a problem for women in Saudi Arabia (SOURCE: Arab News).
  • More men are getting boob jobs.“Moob” reductions in New Zealand and the U.K. have seen a big increase over the last five years. The increase may be partly due to increased media attention to the “moobies” of famous men like Simon Cowell, Tony Blair, and Jack Nicholson (SOURCE: NZ Herald).
  • Avant garde chef at the Omnivore Food Festival in Deauville, France whips up a dessert that looks like a bar of soap and arrives on a plate filled with edible bath bubbles (SOURCE: AFP).

  • Thank God for makeup artists…or the lack thereof. Students at Southern Methodist University foil nude photo shoot scam (that was misrepresented as being affiliated with MTV) when they get to the shoot and find the lack of makeup artists and professional photography equipment suspicious (SOURCE: Dallas Morning News).
  • Is that nose job really necessary? Australian Defence Force cracks down on current policy that allows female military personnel to undergo cosmetic surgery for purely cosmetic reasons (SOURCE: Daily Telegraph).

    Ugh, I just read that article on the sleazy sales guys. Yuck! I would hate it if I was trying to shop for makeup and a salesperson started hitting on me lol!

    Seriously! I totally agree…shopping for makeup and beauty stuff is supposed to be fun and relaxing.

    That story makes me so thankful for my local Sephora ; )
