Housed in a slick metallic compact that features a cool swiveling mirror (the utility of which I’m still not entirely convinced), Hourglass Oxygen Foundation Powder is an ultra silky, pressed mineral foundation that’s among the best that I’ve tried.
This foundation comes in four shades that are sheer enough to accommodate a generous spectrum of skin tones, yet buildable enough to offer medium coverage.
If you have very dry skin, you might find this foundation a bit uncomfortable (though prepping with a deep moisturizer may help). Normal to oily skin types, however, will appreciate the soft, velvety-matte finish and extremely light feel of this powder.
Oxygen Foundation Powder lasted all day without caking or streaking and did a good job of controlling oil. If you have very oily skin, however, you’ll probably need a touch up (or a blotting paper) to get through the day.
When paired with Cargo Blu_Ray Mattifier, I got this stuff to stay on for almost twelve hours (yes, I said twelve) with only one touch-up. Highly recommended…if you don’t mind the $46 price tag.
If you’re wondering about the ingredients, this foundation does not contain Talc, Bismuth Oxychloride, or parabens. You can view the full ingredient list (or snag one of these compacts for yourself) at Sephora.
Have you tried Hourglass Oxygen Foundation Powder yet? What do you think of it?

That sounds so tempting~ I have combination skin where the T-zone tends to get oily but the cheeks are dry, so maybe I can try this on my t-zone area. I’ve always had doubts about mineral makeup, because I feel like it doesn’t have the stay on power of liquid foundation, and I’m way too lazy to be brushing powder onto my face all day long. I’d love to try this one though.
Jazmin, you’ve inspired me to start my own beauty blog! =D Check it out if you’ve got time, and I would love to join the beauty blog network…

Hi again, Fuzkittie! There are definitely mineral foundations that can compete with or outlast liquid foundations (like this one, Bare Minerals, and Jane Iredale)…but liquid or powder, my skin is oily enough that touch-up’s are inevitable (which I agree is a pain ; )
And congrats on the new blog! Your first post is great! I left you a comment over there ; )
You should definitely think about joining the BBN! However, the network only accepts new members who have been blogging regularly for 3 months, so you’ll have to grow your blog a bit before it will be eligible.
If you’d like more info, I wrote about the membership requirements here ; )

Jazmin-
I have a very oily t-zone and I’m in highschool, which means I can only touch up my makeup during lunch. Is there anything you would reccomend to control shine, that would last through the entire day and look natural? I’ve tried BE mineral veil and also the maybelline veil, but both leave me shiny after a few hours or start to look cakey or like I’m wearing too much makeup.
Thanks,
Allison
P.S. I’m a frequent reader of your blog and I really appreciate all the effort and time you put into it. :)

Hi Allison,
You’re such a sweetheart! Thanks so much for your question…and for reading the blog : )
My current faves for all-day oil control are Cargo Blu_Ray Mattifier and Cosmedicine Medi-Matte. Both of them are lotions that you wear under your makeup to help absorb oil.
If you haven’t tried them already, another must-have for oily-skinned makeup moxies like us are facial blotting papers. I like the ones made by Biore and Clean & Clear.
They’re great for absorbing oil without upsetting your makeup and, since they’re colorless, you don’t need a mirror to use them. Keep a pack in your bag, pocket, or locker and get a quick “blot” in between classes ; )
Hope that helps!

Hey,
would you consider testing and reviewing Laura Mercier’s loose powders– both the mineral one and the others, including Secret Brightener powder? I would love to find out how well these actually work before purchasing. Also, I’m really really confused about the best one for me (I’m 19, have sensitive skin with rosacea-induced redness too, and basically have combination skin– can get dry cheeks, but nose is always shiny and I get pimples on my forehead and blackheads near my nose.).
Also, I’d be thrilled if you reviewed Skinceuticals C E Ferulic serum. My facialist says it is a miracle product but it’s pretty pricey (!!) so I only want to buy it if it really, really does something amazing.
Also, do you have a favorite exfoliator/scrub for sensitive skin?
I am new to this blog and any advice on the above would be so, so very much appreciated. Thanks, everyone!

Hi,
can any of you recommend a company to turn to for a good foundation for very pale skin? I am very, very pale, and am going through hell trying to find a foundation that isn’t just too dark for me! Clinique and Bare Escentuals’ lightest shades are both far too dark, and so is everything I’ve ever tried from every drugstore brand. If anyone has advice, it would mean a lot. Thanks so much!!!

I LOVE hourglass - their extreme sheen gloss and blush duo in brazilian are my life. That, and Spoiled Pretty has a pretty decent review on their liner [the pricetag makes me cringe, though].
And to Charlotte, have you tried Revlon? They may be light enough. You should try a tinted moisturizer or even a powder foundation. Shesiedo has really light foundation shades, and Cargo has a great shade range for their powder foundation. Check them out on the Sephora site!

Hi CJ — thanks for your comment and questions! I’d definitely consider reviewing all the products you mentioned. As a matter of fact, the Laura Mercier mineral powders have been on my list for awhile ; )
I’ll also look into the Skinceuticals C E Ferulic serum and see what I can do ; )
As for a a favorite exfoliator/scrub for sensitive skin, you might want to try Neutrogena’s Deep Clean Gentle Scrub, which I really like and, though I haven’t tried it personally, I’ve also heard good things about Dove Gentle Exfoliating Foaming Facial Cleanser. Hope that helps!
And if any of you other makeup moxies out there have some recommendations for a good exfoliator/facial scrub for sensitive skin, please feel free to chime in and help CJ out!
Hi Charlotte. Thanks for the questions! Have you tried any of the foundations by Shu Uemura or Shiseido? I have some very fair-skinned friends who use Shiseido’s skin-lightening products as well its foundations and their skin always looks flawless.
lol, sarahPUFFY…doh! I just saw your response to Charlotte there recommending Shiseido. Thanks for sharing your makeup moxie ; )
Yeah, Hourglass makes some great stuff…if you’ve got the funds to pay for it ; ) I read Daneen’s review too — and it definitely has me wanting to try that liner.
