Did you catch the premiere episode of Blush?
Update: Moxies, I’ve decided that Blush deserves its very own page! Be sure to bookmark it for Blush news and weekly recaps.
Sure, we love Project Runway and Shear Genius, but we’ve waited far too long for a reality show devoted exclusively to beauty.
Filling the reality T.V. void for makeup junkies everywhere, Blush: The Search for the Next Great Makeup Artist premiered last night on Lifetime.
Hosted by Vanessa Marcil, Blush fully follows the reality competition show format: In each weekly episode, nine makeup artists are put to the test with a variety of challenges and competitions judged by a panel of beauty and style experts. The two resident judges are Joanna Schlip, the ultra-fabu celebrity makeup artist, and Hal Rubenstein, the fashion director of InStyle.
No reality show would be complete, of course, without its version of Tim Gund. Filling the role of mentor for the crop of Blush talent is the lovely Charlie Green, makeup artist to famous faces such as Angeline Jolie, Milla Jovovich and many more.
Predictably, one contestant is eliminated at the end of each of six episodes until The Next Great Makeup Artist is left standing.
The winner will receive a contract as a professional artist with Max Factor, the opportunity to be the makeup artist for an InStyle photo shoot and a cash prize of $100,000.
The worst part (at least for me)? I missed the first half of the show and I’m going to have to play a little catch up.
Did you watch Blush? What did you think of it? Have a fave contestant yet? (So far, I really liked Todd and Nolan’s work and I also think Maxi, the show’s attention-starved drama queen, will be one to watch : )

I can’t even believe that there’s only 1 black girl on “Blush” and they didn’t even show her introduction like they did everyone else. We have a black President now people – Stop trying to shut us down!

You’ll probably laugh but I hate reality tv. As curious as I might be, I don’t think I could watch it.

I just posted a recap of the first episode. It’s located here, if you want to check it out.
I also started a new Blush fan page, so we can all keep better track of the episodes as well as any other interesting Blush news : )

And please don’t be sorry for missing Comments 4 a Cure! I’m just glad to hear from you and I hope you’re doing well : ) (everything ok?)
I’m so sorry to hear that cancer has had such an effect on your family, but I’m glad that I could do something to help find a cure and help honor those who’ve lost their lives to the disease.
And the credit really goes to the Beauty Blog Network. The Comments 4 a Cure campaign came about before I was a member, so this was my first year participating : )

Thanks Pouneh! It’s always wonderful to have you here : ) And I’m so glad you love the new look!
Besides getting over a horrible cold, things here are great! I’m now the Beauty & Style editor over at Capessa. Plus, I’ve got a couple new things in the works (but still need to let them simmer a little longer before I dish ; )
Good luck on your paper…I hope it turned out great! (what class is it for??)

I am usually not into stuff like this, but I love this show! I don’t know what it is about it, but it has become my favorite! I really hope it makes it to another season! I am afraid that it won’t though because I don’t think a whole lot of people are giving it a chance! I wish they would because it is a really good show!
I think Nolan is going to be the one to win because he seems to have more experience with this stuff! Maxi, I think, will probably be runner up because he tends to not listen to what people ask him to do! He does as he pleases then wants to act like a baby when he is told to stop! I personally want Todd to win! I just like style and personality! =)

LLuvsStrawberries: So glad to hear that you’re loving this show. It’s totally addictive!
And I hope it makes it to another season, too! I feel like it wasn’t really advertised enough. Plus, I’ve read some on comments on Lifetime.com where people were complaining that it wasn’t an appropriate show for Lifetime (maybe it would do better on Bravo?).
This is crazy for me, but at this point, I’d be happy with any of the artists winning (with reality shows, I usually have at least one really big favorite). But I really do love them all (yes, even Maxi)!
When it comes down to it, though, here’s my guess for the way it will end up:
1. Maxi
2. Todd (or Nolan?? it’s such a tough call!)
3. Nolan
4. Farah
: )

does anyone know what happened to Todd? The last show was dedicated in memory of him!!

It was very sad to hear that Todd Homme from Blush has passed away in his sleep. He was so young and talented.
