Feeling the holiday stress?
Are you feeling the holiday stress yet, Makeup Moxies? I originally published these tips last year, but they come in super helpful every time the holidays roll around.
If you’re stressing out, take comfort in the fact that you’re definitely not alone. Even more importantly, there are things you can do to cope with any stress or depression that may arise during the holiday season.
If you do a Google Search for “holiday stress”, you’ll find several helpful articles. One that I found particularly interesting and informative is this one from MayoClinic.com.
The article pinpoints the three most common “triggers” for holiday stress and depression and then offers twelve tips to help you cope.
But what kind of Makeup Moxie would I be if I didn’t add a soul-soothing beauty tip to the list?
For me, one of the best stress-busters is also a really simple one: Take a “beauty timeout” and do something to really pamper yourself. Even if it’s just for fifteen or twenty minutes, take some time that’s solely for your own self-indulgence.
Take a hot bath or a long shower and follow up by slathering on a rich body cream, get your nails done, get a massage, or just treat yourself to a face mask.
Most importantly, whatever you choose to do, resist the urge to run through your mental checklists or entertain any worries.
It’s amazing just how relaxed, recharged, and re-energized you can feel when you do something for yourself that makes you feel beautiful.
Go ahead and take a beauty timeout, Makeup Moxies. The world will wait ;)
Do you have any favorite tips for dealing with holiday stress?

Hi,
I’m sorry, I know this is off-topic, but after very frustrating day in Sephora during which I couldn’t find anything that did the job just right, I really need to ask– what is the best brush for dipping in powder eyeshadow so that you can use it as a (smoky) liner? I’m looking to use powder eyeshadows to get that smudged-liner effect, and to find a liner brush that can apply them that was quickly and easily, but I can’t find the right brush. Suggestions?
thanks so, so, so much for your help!

Hi Charlotte! No problem! Please feel free to leave a question wherever you’d like or to shoot me an email (jazmin[at]makeupmoxie[dot]com :)
I think I know exactly what you’re looking for. Try MAC’s 219 pencil brush (click here to take a look).
It’s perfect for lining your eyes with powder.
Better yet, if you’re really going for that smokey, smudgy look, apply your eye shadow like you normally would, follow up with a regular eyeliner and then use the tip of your 219 brush to blend the liner up into the shadow.
This is one of my must-have makeup brushes. I hope it’s what you’re looking for ; ) Let me know how it goes!
